The lottery invites registered voters in swing states to sign a petition for a chance to win the‌ prize, with winners thus far being active Republican voters. ⁤While‍ Musk has invested significantly‍ in the effort, including $30 million in September,‍ some GOP consultants question whether this ⁢initiative will truly ⁣attract new voters or simply engage existing Trump supporters.

Legal concerns have‌ emerged over whether Musk’s sweepstakes might violate ⁤federal ⁢law ‍by offering incentives for voter registration or voting. ⁢Pennsylvania officials, including Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro, have suggested potential investigations into the ‍matter. Although some ⁣Republicans are enthusiastic‌ about Musk’s financial contributions, others argue that effective ground operations are more critical for reaching voters. As the election⁢ approaches and⁤ early voting is already underway in many states,⁢ some political experts warn that Musk’s ‍campaign may be a case of too little too late.

Republicans concerned Elon Musk’s $1 million lottery won’t achieve intended purpose

BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania — Republicans question whether Elon Musk‘s daily $1 million sweepstakes that has generated splashy headlines will also generate new voters to turn out for former President Donald Trump just two weeks before the election.

The billionaire made the announcement over the weekend that registered swing state voters who sign his super PAC’s petition would be entered into a daily lottery until Nov. 5 for a chance to become a millionaire.

So far, the three Pennsylvania residents who have won Musk’s lottery are registered Republicans who were active voters before winning the sweepstakes, according to state records.
