They also noted ⁣that the⁣ driver likely exceeded the safe speed limit while navigating the curve on a rainy day, compounded by road conditions that included leaf litter. Additionally, coroner Kate Robertson highlighted the lack of adequate signage alerting drivers to the dangerous curve.

The families of‌ the victims, particularly the mother of Harvey Owen, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and the hope for a more promising ⁣future that Harvey had⁣ shared before the accident. The boys—Hugo Morris, 18; Harvey Owen, 17; Wilf Fitchett, 17; and Jevon Hirst, 16—drowned last November when their car lost control and overturned into a flooded ditch. They were on their way to a new campsite in Eryri National Park when the accident occurred on November 19. Authorities searched for two days before discovering the vehicle in the ditch thanks to a passing recycling truck. A coroner’s report confirmed that drowning was the cause of death. Investigators found that while the vehicle was mechanically sound, its rear tires were under-inflated. It is believed that Morris entered a curve too quickly, leading to loss of control on a road with a speed limit of 60 mph; experts suggested he may have been traveling significantly faster than the safe speed of 38 mph for that turn. Contributing factors included rainy weather and debris on the road. Officials stated that this crash could have been prevented and noted insufficient signage warning drivers about the dangerous curve.

Crystal Owen, mother of Harvey Owen, expressed her devastation over her son’s death: “Harvey was perfect from birth until he was tragically taken from us.” She described him as deeply loved by his family and shared how they struggle to comprehend what happened after he had expressed gratitude for his life and hopes for his future before the accident.

Post-mortem examinations revealed no visible injuries on any of the boys’ bodies; drowning was officially determined as their cause of death

[43393
post-2357265","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-police-investigation-tragicfindings-campingtrip-teens
["GET
