This was Trump&rsquo;s most recent visit since hosting a rally earlier this year, proving his focus on garnering votes in the traditionally blue district.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;So when you were president, I know for a fact I was able to do three things: I was able to see money, save money, spend money. How can we make the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>economy<\/a> come back?&rdquo; a man asked Trump in the Bronx-based barbershop.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Number one, it all began with the oil. They screwed around with what I did with oil. We had the greatest &mdash; we were energy-independent. You remember back four, five years ago, $1.87 for a gallon of gas,&rdquo; Trump explained. &ldquo;And now you have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Inflation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>inflation<\/a>, you have the costs so high. They haven&rsquo;t gone down. We&rsquo;re going to do two things: interest rates are going down, it&rsquo;s going to be brought down &mdash; it&rsquo;s going to be brought down fast. The last time New York elected a Republican for president was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Ronald-Reagan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Ronald Reagan<\/a> in 1984. The state elected Reagan for both of his terms. Reagan also made a campaign stop in the&nbsp;Bronx&nbsp;ahead of his first win where , at the time, he addressed the National Urban League Conference.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Bronx elected its first Republican city council member in 50 years.
