The Gallup survey indicates that 52% of \u200brespondents believe their\u2062 financial situation has deteriorated, while\u200d only 39% feel better off. This sentiment echoes \u2063findings \u200dfrom a previous Rasmussen \u2064Reports\u200d poll and \u200dis reminiscent of public opinion\u2063 during \u2062the inflationary period leading up \u2062to the 1992 presidential election,\u200d when President \u200bGeorge\u2063 H.W. Bush for Bill Clinton during a similar inflationary period.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;More than half of Americans (52%) say they and their family are worse off today than they were four years ago, while 39% say they are better off and 8% volunteer that they are about the same. The 2024 response is most similar to 1992 among <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-who-has-not-ruled-out-packing-supreme-court-tells-conference-an-independent-judiciary-is-critical-to-a-healthy-democracy\/\" title=\"Kamala, Who Has Not Ruled Out Packing Supreme Court, Tells Conference: \u2018An Independent Judiciary Is Critical To A Healthy Democracy\u2019\">presidential election years<\/a> in which Gallup has asked the question,&rdquo; the analysis out Friday morning said.<\/p>\n<p>Gallup uses an &ldquo;Economic Confidence Index&rdquo; to test the nation&rsquo;s economic well-being. Bush, lost. In 2004, when nearly half said they were better off and the ECI was +1, and George W. Bush won reelection. Similarly, 45% felt better off in 2012 when the ECI was -1, and Barack Obama won.
