The state&rsquo;s attorney general launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/ag.nv.gov\/Hot_Topics\/Victims\/ID_Theft_Program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Nevada Identity Theft Program <\/a>and passed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.nv.us\/nrs\/nrs-205.html#NRS205Sec463\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>NRS 205.463<\/a>, a law that made it illegal to use someone else&rsquo;s personal information, in 2023.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3178069\/2024-election-michigan-voters-issues-crime-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"ELECTION 2024: HERE ARE THE ISSUES MICHIGAN VOTERS CARE THE MOST ABOUT\"><strong>ELECTION 2024: HERE ARE THE ISSUES MICHIGAN VOTERS CARE THE MOST ABOUT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Crime<\/h2>\n<p>Crime statistics have been decreasing, according to reports from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Violent crimes of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault in 2023 were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nevadacrimestats.nv.gov\/tops\/report\/violent-crimes\/las-vegas-metro-police-department\/2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">down<\/a>&nbsp;8.93% from 2022 and 14.7% from 2020.<\/span> Most notably, robbery was down 20.35% from 2022, and rape was down 21.48%. Along with the declining rates, arrests for crimes have increased by 9.6% in Nevada.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abortion<\/h2>\n<p>Nevada was one of the quickest states to act after <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> was overturned. <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">On June 28, 2022, Gov. Joe Lombardo (R-NV) signed Executive Order&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gov.nv.gov\/layouts\/full_page.aspx?id=360658#:~:text=Health%20care%20professionals%20lawfully%20providing,Nevada%20and%20meet%20the%20standards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022-08<\/a><\/span>,&nbsp;protecting medical professionals who perform abortions and the privacy of those getting the procedure. Abortion up to fetal viability at <a href=\"https:\/\/dpbh.nv.gov\/Programs\/MIP\/AbortionInNevada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>24 weeks<\/a> is protected under a 1990 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.nv.us\/nrs\/nrs-442.html#NRS442Sec250\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>referendum<\/a> in Nevada, but it is on the ballot this November to enshrine the protections into the state&rsquo;s constitution or refrain.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy are only allowed to save the life of the mother, and parental notification is not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionfinder.org\/abortion-guides-by-state\/abortion-in-nevada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>required<\/a> for minors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Economy&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>It&rsquo;s no surprise that a state with one of the most popular entertainment hot spots in the United States would have an excellent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibisworld.com\/united-states\/economic-profiles\/nevada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>economy<\/a>. Nevada&rsquo;s lottery and casino industry came in No. 1 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-working-with-reporters-to-reshape-coverage-of-economic-woes-under-biden-as-approval-sinks-report\/\" title=\"White House Working With Reporters \u2018To Reshape Coverage\u2019 Of Economic Woes Under Biden As Approval Sinks: Report\">gross domestic product growth<\/a>, raking in $16.5 billion in 2024. Casino hotels landed at No. 4 with $11.4 billion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Industries that greatly profited in Nevada were agriculture and retail, each with a 27% growth rate, and construction and manufacturing, which each experienced 16% growth, <a href=\"https:\/\/usafacts.org\/topics\/economy\/state\/nevada\/\">according<\/a> to the bureaus of Labor Statistics and Economic Analysis. Educational services dropped 1.2%.<\/p>\n<p>Nevada&rsquo;s unemployment rates have consistently decreased since 2020, but the unemployment rate as of November 2023 was 5.4%, which is higher than the national average and the highest in the nation. However, over the last five years, its employment growth rate grew by 2.6%, which is higher than the U.S.&rsquo;s growth of 1.2%. Its economy, as of 2023, was the sixth best in the nation for growth, with an overall GDP of $237.1 billion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Immigration&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>Immigration concerns came in last place for Nevada voters, who rely on immigrants&rsquo; contributions to the state&rsquo;s economy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <em>American Immigration Council <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/map.americanimmigrationcouncil.org\/locations\/nevada\/#overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reported<\/a> that 19% of Nevada&rsquo;s population is foreign-born, and 12.7% of the population has at least one immigrant parent. Immigrants make up 23.6% of the state&rsquo;s labor force and account for 24.8% of nurses, 17.3% of STEM workers, and 26.8% of entrepreneurs. Immigrant-owned businesses saw $1.2 billion in total business income in 2022.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With over 600,000 immigrants in the state, their spending power amounted to $18.2 billion in 2022, with over $5 billion in taxes paid. In the same year, Immigrants also contributed $2.1 billion to social security.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The top countries of origin for immigrants in Nevada are Mexico, the Philippines, Cuba, El Salvador, and China.
