These charges, previously dismissed ⁢by Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee due to insufficient⁢ detail for ⁣a proper defense, included ⁢allegations that Trump⁣ and⁢ others pressured Georgia officials to appoint alternate electors. The revived charges affect‌ several individuals,⁤ including Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows, who‍ were implicated in⁢ a racketeering indictment ‌related to this case. The court proceedings have been stalled while the appeals ⁢court deliberates Willis’s⁢ potential disqualification due to concerns over impartiality linked to her prior associations and public statements. Currently, Trump faces eight felony charges, reduced from an⁣ initial thirteen.

Fani Willis seeks to revive criminal charges in Trump RICO case

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has asked the Georgia Court of Appeals to reinstate six criminal charges against former President Donald Trump, as well as ones levied against his co-defendants, in the state’s sweeping election interference case.

The charges were previously dismissed by Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, who ruled in March that the defendants had not been provided with enough detail to mount a proper defense.
