trust in mass media hit a new low again in Gallup&rsquo;s annual survey on confidence in the press, while faith in the Supreme Court inched upward.<\/p>\n<p>Gallup <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/651977\/americans-trust-media-remains-trend-low.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> the results of the group&rsquo;s latest poll on trust in the news media Monday. The poll found just 31 percent of Americans maintain a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-happy-50th-birthday-for-the-congressional-budget-process-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"A happy 50th birthday for the congressional budget process - Washington Examiner\">great deal&#038;rdquo<\/a>; or a &ldquo;fair amount&rdquo; of confidence in newspapers, television networks, and radio to report on events &ldquo;fully, accurately and fairly.&rdquo; The number of Americans reporting a &ldquo;great deal&rdquo; or &ldquo;fair amount&rdquo; of trust in the media has not increased in Gallup&rsquo;s survey since 2018, when at 45 percent, the press enjoyed its highest level of confidence since 2009.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-00171389d8b3a1b4a0e8476c49ea9421 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-00171389d8b3a1b4a0e8476c49ea9421\"><\/div>\n<p>Today, 36 percent of those surveyed reported no confidence in the media, while 33 percent said their level of trust could be described as &ldquo;not very much.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Americans&rsquo; opinions of the Supreme Court, on the other hand, have begun to improve following the drop and subsequent plateau in support from 2021 to 2023, when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-attacks-on-clarence-and-ginni-thomas-are-merely-latest-in-a-decades-long-smear-campaign\/\" title=\"The Attacks On Clarence And Ginni Thomas Are Merely Latest In A Decades-Long Smear Campaign\">high bench<\/a> faced unprecedented attacks from Democrats politicizing controversial decisions.<\/p>\n<p>As of September, 44 percent of Americans approved of the way the Supreme Court is handling its job, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/4732\/supreme-court.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to Gallup. Fifty-one percent, or roughly half, disapprove, representing a 7-point drop from the same month in the previous two years after justices overturned the abortion precedent established by <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> with the <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women&rsquo;s Health Organization<\/em> decision.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Court currently has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/majority-believe-border-situation-is-crisis-disapprove-of-how-biden-is-handling-it-cnn-poll\/\" title=\"Majority Believe Border Situation Is Crisis, Disapprove Of How Biden Is Handling It: CNN Poll\">higher approval rating<\/a> now than before the Dobbs decision &mdash; even with nearly every Democrat disapproving of it,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JCNSeverino\/status\/1846252762616791079\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Justice-Trial-Kavanaugh-Confirmation-Supreme\/dp\/1621579832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Justice on Trial<\/a><\/em>  co-author Carrie Severino on X.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e35c2fc3eabed38741953007a67f9356 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e35c2fc3eabed38741953007a67f9356\"><\/div>\n<p>Democrats, however, have escalated their efforts to undermine the court with <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/09\/court-packing-is-just-one-more-way-democrats-would-turn-america-into-venezuela\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plans<\/a> to &ldquo;pack&rdquo; the high bench with political allies expected to rule in their favor. Vice President Kamala Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/08\/26\/us-news\/kamala-harris-supports-radical-legislation-to-pack-the-supreme-court-democrat-senator-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supports<\/a> a radical effort proposed in the upper chamber to appoint new Supreme Court justices every two years with a cap of 18 years on the bench.<\/p>\n<p>Former Federalist Senior Editor David Harsanyi wrote about the left&rsquo;s court-packing plans for The Federalist in July. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Kamala Harris contends that packing the Supreme Court is necessary because &lsquo;there is a clear crisis of confidence facing the Supreme Court,&rsquo;&rdquo; Harsanyi <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/31\/dems-promise-to-save-democracy-by-destroying-the-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>. &ldquo;Is there?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We find ourselves here because of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-promise-to-save-democracy-by-destroying-scotus\/\" title=\"Dems Promise To Save &#039;Democracy&#039; By Destroying SCOTUS\">decades-long attacks<\/a> on the institution. Democrats have made a mockery of confirmation hearings since the 1980s,&rdquo; Harsanyi explained. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-77c0435590aeaca7cf1e26cb64974206 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-77c0435590aeaca7cf1e26cb64974206\"><\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>After Barack Obama publicly castigated the Supreme Court for upholding the First Amendment, things really took off. Wealthy progressive activist groups began cooking up pretend scandals and laundering them through faux journalistic operations. The media can now affix the phrase &ldquo;plagued by ethic scandals,&rdquo; or some such nonsense, to every mention of the court.
