Warner argues that acknowledging this suppression\u200d is essential to restoring public confidence in the government and elections, warning that without accountability, similar interference could occur again in \u200bfuture elections.<\/p>\n<p>Warner expressed concern over the roles of the FBI, CIA, and the Department \u200bof Homeland Security&#8217;s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure\u200c Security Agency (CISA) in censoring information about the laptop, which\u200d contained evidence of Hunter Biden&#8217;s activities and personal issues. He highlighted that many Americans believe the\u2062 story could have altered the\u2064 election&#8217;s\u2062 outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Warner criticized the federal government&#8217;s\u2063 use of President Biden&#8217;s Executive Order on Promoting \u2063Access\u2064 to Voting, suggesting it is being used to favor Democratic voter registration\u200c efforts. He has addressed \u2062his concerns \u2062to Congress, calling for\u200b investigations into federal\u200d election interference and\u2062 pointing out his fears about \u200cinternal governmental actions, rather than\u2062 just foreign\u200d interference.<\/p>\n<p>Warner contends that\u200b such\u200c actions by federal institutions compromise their integrity and that Americans should remain vigilant against misinformation stemming from these agencies, stating \u2064that citizens \u200dshould not have to watch over the\u200c very entities created to protect them. Despite claims of a secure election by\u2062 federal officials, he insists that the narrative surrounding the integrity of the 2020 election was misleading and demands accountability from CISA regarding their previous statements.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner, a Republican, is calling on federal agencies to apologize for their role in suppressing information that could have changed the 2020 election outcome. He warned the government might do similar things again.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I want the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dhs-leadership-stands-up-for-female-law-enforcement-agents-following-criticism-of-secret-service\/\" title=\"DHS leadership stands up for female law enforcement agents following criticism of Secret Service\">federal government &#038;mdash<\/a>; one of these agencies, or all these agencies &mdash; to admit that there was a problem, and that would be the first step toward restoring confidence in both our federal government and in our elections,&rdquo; Warner told The Federalist. &ldquo;If you don&rsquo;t acknowledge the problem, then it&rsquo;s likely to happen again.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Hiding Hunter&rsquo;s Laptop<\/h2>\n<p>Warner said the FBI, CIA, and the Department of Homeland Security&rsquo;s CISA program &mdash; the federal government&rsquo;s hub for online <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/23\/cisa-censors-join-forces-with-private-groups-to-target-so-called-election-misinformation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">censorship<\/a> &mdash; need to acknowledge their role in <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/20\/what-congress-should-ask-the-fbi-agent-involved-in-censoring-hunter-biden-laptop-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suppressing<\/a> the Hunter Biden laptop story ahead of the 2020 election. He said if they refuse to answer for this, they will likely take similar actions before November.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Post first <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/14\/email-reveals-how-hunter-biden-introduced-ukrainian-biz-man-to-dad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> the contents of President Joe Biden&rsquo;s son&rsquo;s laptop in October 2020. Those contents included evidence of foreign business deals involving the president, records of Hunter&rsquo;s drug use, and explicit sexual material. But the FBI worked to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/26\/confirmed-fbi-colluded-with-big-tech-to-prevent-voters-from-learning-about-hunter-bidens-laptop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">censor<\/a> the story on Facebook and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/02\/ex-fbi-counsel-behind-russiagate-biden-laptop-censorship-now-part-of-left-wing-election-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter<\/a> as Russian &ldquo;misinformation,&rdquo; even though the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/prosecution-introduces-hunter-bidens-infamous-laptop-at-trial-uses-data-as-evidence-of-crack-addiction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agency<\/a> (along with the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/01\/17\/four-years-after-biden-laptop-from-hell-falsely-labeled-misinformation-doj-admits-its-real\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Justice<\/a>) later admitted it <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/20\/fbi-told-twitter-hunter-biden-laptop-was-real-when-new-york-post-story-broke-then-hid-behind-big-tech-censors-disinfo-smear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">knew<\/a> the information was true. As of 2022, 79 percent of Americans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/118\/meeting\/house\/116258\/documents\/HHRG-118-FD00-20230720-SD011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">thought<\/a> the story would have changed the outcome of the election.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Warner said he is concerned the federal government is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/fbi-investigating-threatening-letters-sent-elections-officials-several-rcna171464\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sowing fear<\/a> about threats to election officials to distract Americans from its information suppression.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That&rsquo;s the real concern, that&rsquo;s the insidious concern because it&rsquo;s coming from the inside,&rdquo; Warner said. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s like a magician, waving with one hand getting your attention but doing the dirty work on the other.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Warner said he expects hostile nations like China, Iran, and Russia to try interfering in elections, but America already has safeguards against foreign influence, so he is more concerned about internal threats.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We don&rsquo;t have mechanisms in place to watch out for our own federal government lying to us,&rdquo; Warner said. &ldquo;Watch out for anything that the CIA, FBI, CISA, and others say.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Peddling &lsquo;Bidenbucks&rsquo;<\/h2>\n<p>Warner said the federal government is also using Biden&rsquo;s &ldquo;Executive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/03\/07\/executive-order-on-promoting-access-to-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Order<\/a> on Promoting Access to Voting,&rdquo; which orders federal agencies to register voters, to tilt the scales for the left.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;They&rsquo;re trying to get the federal government agencies, all of them, to become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jim-crow-2-0-is-imaginary-and-divisive\/\" title=\"\u2018Jim Crow 2.0\u2019 Is Imaginary \u2013 And Divisive\">voter registration centers<\/a> and basically get out the vote for Democrats,&rdquo; Warner said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The order and its accompanying get-out-the-vote gambit have garnered the nickname &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/25\/zuckbucks-distributor-doesnt-want-you-paying-attention-to-noncitizen-voting-in-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bidenbucks<\/a>&rdquo; because of the resemblance to the &ldquo;Zuckbucks&rdquo; program of 2020, when Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg funneled <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/15\/bidenbucks-make-zuckbucks-look-like-chump-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$400 million<\/a> through leftist groups to election offices in mostly Democrat areas, influencing election policy and strategically boosting turnout.<\/p>\n<p>Warner signed a 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.wyo.gov\/Media\/2022\/Joint_SOS_Letter-Biden_EO_14019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to Biden, along with 14 other secretaries of state, asking him to rescind the order. He also issued a press <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.wv.gov\/news\/Pages\/10-09-24-A.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">release<\/a> on Oct. 9, calling on Congress to investigate federal election interference.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We shouldn&rsquo;t have to keep an eye on the very institutions that are supposed to keep us safe,&rdquo; Warner said in the release. &ldquo;Americans need to be aware this occurred, and we must take action to ensure it doesn&rsquo;t happen again.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He wrote Republican Sen. Shelley Moore Capito on Sept. 26, <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.wv.gov\/news\/Pages\/10-09-24-A.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asking<\/a> for a congressional inquiry to ensure the federal government does not interfere in the election. Warner said he also wrote CISA Director Jen Easterly and FBI Director Christopher Wray the same week.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;CISA refuses to address these concerns, further eroding confidence in our elections,&rdquo; Warner wrote at the time.<\/p>\n<h2>Denying Accountability<\/h2>\n<p>Despite the federal election interference involved in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story, then-CISA Director Chris Krebs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsgac.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/imo\/media\/doc\/Testimony-Krebs-2020-12-16.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approved<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/news-events\/news\/joint-statement-elections-infrastructure-government-coordinating-council-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a> calling the 2020 election the &ldquo;most secure in American history.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;They let Chris Krebs say that was the most secure election ever. That&rsquo;s what the Democrats continually go back to, and say, &lsquo;There was nothing wrong with the 2020 election, it was the most secure ever,&rsquo;&rdquo; Warner said. &ldquo;CISA should come out and say, &lsquo;No, it wasn&rsquo;t the most secure. We had this lie that was perpetrated on the American people,&rsquo; and admit that there was a problem.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>At the time, 51 officials &mdash; including former National Intelligence Director James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell, former National Counterterrorism Center Director Nick Rasmussen, and former CIA official Nick Shapiro &mdash; signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/27\/former-intel-officials-who-signed-infamous-hunter-biden-laptop-letter-remain-defiant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to Politico claiming the story was &ldquo;Russian disinformation.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The statement originated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/in-the-news\/biden-campaign-blinken-orchestrated-intel-letter-discredit-hunter-biden-laptop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biden campaign<\/a> and helped suppress important information that could have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/118\/meeting\/house\/116258\/documents\/HHRG-118-FD00-20230720-SD011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">swayed<\/a> the election.
