Current Vice President Kamala Harris leads former President Donald\u2064 Trump \u2062by\u200b 78% to 15%,\u2064 but this margin has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ice-circulates-plan-to-release-thousands-of-detainees-to-ease-deficit\/\" title=\"ICE plans to release thousands of detainees to reduce deficit\">significantly decreased compared<\/a> to past elections, where Democrats enjoyed much stronger support from this demographic (e.g., \u200b91% for Hillary Clinton\u2062 in 2016 and 92% for Joe Biden in 2020).<\/p>\n<p>The poll reveals that economic concerns are the primary deciding factors for Black voters, with only 26% rating\u200d the country\u2019s economic conditions positively.\u2064 Issues\u200d such as the\u2062 cost of living, inflation, and abortion rank higher among their \u2062priorities than race-related issues. In 2016, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/politics\/2018\/08\/09\/an-examination-of-the-2016-electorate-based-on-validated-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"won\">won<\/a> black voters over Trump, 91%-6%, while in 2020, President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/politics\/2021\/06\/30\/behind-bidens-2020-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"won\">won<\/a> the demographic over Trump, 92%-8%, according to the Pew Research Center.<\/p>\n<p>Harris would be the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/harvards-diversity-hire-president-finally-resigns-is-this-the-beginning-of-the-end-for-dei\/\" title=\"Harvard&#039;s President Resigns: Is DEI in Trouble?\">female black president<\/a> and the second black president if elected on Nov. 5, but black voters vote more on economic and other policy factors rather than race, the newspaper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/10\/14\/briefing\/hispanic-black-americans-election-poll.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reports\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Feelings about the economy, like the rest of the electorate, are lukewarm to bad among black voters, according to the poll. Only 26% of black voters surveyed rated the country&rsquo;s economic conditions as excellent or good, while 74% rated it as fair or poor. The economy was the most common top issue for deciding how to vote among the demographic (20%), with the cost of living and inflation also receiving 9%.<\/p>\n<p>Other top issues for black voters included abortion (17%), character or competence of the candidate (11%), and immigration (5%). Equality was only listed as the most important deciding factor at 3%, while only 2% of black voters polled listed the topic of racism and racial issues.<\/p>\n<p>The report finds that voting blocs are increasingly more reliant on economic status and education, among other factors, rather than race. Trump&rsquo;s inroads with black, Hispanic, and other minority voters who have reliably voted heavily Democratic for decades have caused some panic among party members.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think it&rsquo;s very important to not operate from the assumption that black men are in anybody&rsquo;s pocket,&rdquo; Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3156755\/kamala-harris-black-men-earn-vote-nabj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a> during an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists last month. &ldquo;Black men are like any other voting group. You&rsquo;ve got to&nbsp;earn their vote. So I&rsquo;m working to earn the vote.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Harris&rsquo;s campaign is hoping to shore up wide margins for the black vote in the home stretch of the campaign, with a specific focus on black men as her campaign struggles with the male vote.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The vice president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/live-blog-posts\/harris-to-sit-down-with-charlamagne-the-god-for-radio-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"will\">will<\/a> sit down with Charlamagne Tha God, host of <em>The Breakfast Club<\/em> radio show, on Tuesday.
