The arrest occurred\u200c on October 12, 2024, when\u200c deputies stopped\u2064 him at a checkpoint near the rally. He was found to be in possession of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gun-sales-set-january-record-as-democrats-took-control-of-white-house-congress\/\" title=\"Gun Sales Set January Record As Democrats Took Control Of White House, Congress\">multiple guns<\/a> and a high-capacity magazine.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>&ldquo;On Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 4:59 p.m., deputies assigned to former President Donald Trump&rsquo;s rally in the Coachella Valley contacted the driver of a black SUV at a checkpoint at the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive,&rdquo; a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riversidesheriff.org\/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=5898&amp;utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>press release<\/a> from the Riverside County Sheriff&rsquo;s office said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The male driver, identified as Vem Miller, a 49-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was found to be illegally in possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine. Miller was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center for possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine. This incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or attendees of the event,&rdquo; it continued.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This comes after two incidents where people have attempted to assassinate Trump, including the July 13 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3178528\/trump-revels-in-return-to-butler-with-musk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>attempt<\/a> in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet grazed Trump&rsquo;s ear, and an attendee was killed, and the Sept. 15 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3155052\/trumps-second-assassination-attempt-what-we-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>incident<\/a> where a man was found with a gun on Trump International Golf Club while the former president was playing a round of golf.
