The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/boars-head-identifies-root-cause-deadly-listeria-outbreak-indefinitely-discontinues-popular-product\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plant<\/a> where the contaminated meat was produced has since been closed.<\/p>\n<p>The USDA indicated the latest recall was linked to the BrucePac plant in Durant, Oklahoma. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brucepac.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">company<\/a> lists its headquarters as being in Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/10\/business\/meat-firm-recalls-10-million-pounds-of-chicken-due-to-listeria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a> said its brands include Urban Bruce and City Grillers.<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>The USDA said meat and poultry products being recalled were produced between June 19 and Oct. 8.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These products were shipped to other establishments and distributors nationwide then distributed to restaurants and institutions,&rdquo; the USDA warning said, adding that recalled products have the establishment numbers &ldquo;51205 or P-51205&rdquo; near or within the USDA inspection mark.<\/p>\n<p>The agency noted that &ldquo;some product may be available for use in restaurants, institutions, and other establishments.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These other establishments may have used affected meat and poultry in [ready-to-eat] products that may be on store shelves or in consumers&rsquo; refrigerators or freezers.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Restaurants, institutions, and other establishments are urged not to serve or use these products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,&rdquo; the USDA warned.<\/p>\n<p>The issue was discovered during a routine inspection that eventually determined that the company&rsquo;s ready-to-eat chicken was the source of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-deli-meats-cdc-investigates-listeria-outbreak-across-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">listeria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To date, no illnesses associated with BrucePac products have been reported.<\/p>\n<p>The USDA posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/media_file\/documents\/Recall-028-2024-Product-List.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">list<\/a> of products impacted by the recall.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Listeria is particularly dangerous as it can survive in refrigerators and freezers, and infected foods may not look, smell or taste different,&rdquo; Michelle Anstey, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/28-different-sodas-and-drinks-recalled-mug-root-beer-fiji-water-and-powerade-among-the-pulled-items\/\" title=\"Recall Alert: 28 Beverages Including Mug Root Beer, Fiji Water, and Powerade\">food safety expert<\/a> from NSF, a public health and safety organization, said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/nationwide-meat-recall-listeria-brucepac-1966202\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsweek<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These foodborne illnesses are dangerous in that they can have severe health impacts on people, including vomiting, diarrhea, fever and, in severe cases, brain infections and blood infections,&rdquo; Anstey said. &ldquo;They can be especially dangerous for those who are immunocompromised, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kaiser-permanente-branch-mandates-all-employees-including-pregnant-women-take-coronavirus-vaccine\/\" title=\"Kaiser Permanente Branch Mandates All Employees, Including Pregnant Women, Take Coronavirus Vaccine\">including pregnant women<\/a>, children and older adults.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Food scientist Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bryanquocle.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bryan Quoc Le<\/a> said the Boar&rsquo;s Head incident &ldquo;has broken the trust of the consumer,&rdquo; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/food\/2024\/10\/04\/boars-head-deli-meat-safe-listeria-outbreak\/75495689007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He said that while the company now says its products are fine, there is more to consider when dealing with a company whose products have been recalled.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s not like you flip a coin and everything is OK,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Company culture policies that were put in place that caused this issue at this plant &ndash; who&rsquo;s to say that might not be the case at other plants?
