In 2021, there were approximately 20,000 suspected ghost guns reported to the ATF. That&rsquo;s a 1,000% increase compared to 2017.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The statement came in response to a question from the <em>Washington Examiner&rsquo;s <\/em>Christian Datoc. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Does the president [Joe Biden] have a Plan B to stop the proliferation of ghost guns and other related technology should the Supreme Court rule against them?&rdquo; Datoc asked. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fla-gov-desantis-says-vaccinating-seniors-is-his-priority\/\" title=\"Fla. Gov. DeSantis says vaccinating seniors is his priority\">administration remains committed<\/a> to stopping the illegal manufacture and sale of kits and parts that can easily be made into functional ghost guns,&rdquo; Simons said. &ldquo;We stand by the Justice Department&rsquo;s rulemaking to do this.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The high court appears ready to uphold a federal regulation on ghost guns following oral arguments in a case challenging the regulation on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>The case, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3177614\/supreme-court-will-weigh-challenge-to-biden-regulations-on-ghost-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"VanDerStok v. Garland\">VanDerStok v. Garland<\/a><\/em>, centers on the legality of a 2022 rule from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/atf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives<\/a> that treats &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-looks-poised-to-uphold-atf-ghost-guns-rule-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Supreme Court looks poised to uphold ATF \u2018ghost guns\u2019 rule - Washington Examiner\">readily convertible&#038;rdquo<\/a>; ghost gun kits like regular firearms, subjecting them to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-will-weigh-challenge-to-biden-regulations-on-ghost-guns-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Supreme Court will weigh challenge to Biden regulations on \u2018ghost guns\u2019 - Washington Examiner\">serial number requirements<\/a> and background checks.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During Tuesday&rsquo;s oral arguments, a majority of justices seemed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3181079\/supreme-court-looks-poised-uphold-atf-ghost-guns-rule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"inclined to support\">inclined to support<\/a> the ATF&rsquo;s position.<\/p>\n<p>The eventual ruling could have significant implications for future firearm regulations and the limits of federal agency authority.
