This \u2063decision was part of \u2062an initiative\u200b led by \u2062the \u200bDepartment of Public Safety (DPS) to ensure the integrity of\u2063 the state&#8217;s electoral process, overseen by \u200bRepublican Secretary of State Monae Johnson. narrative that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/suit-local-election-chief-refuses-to-clean-maricopas-voter-rolls\/\" title=\"Suit: Local Election Chief Refuses To Clean Maricopa&#039;s Voter Rolls\">foreign nationals aren&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t interfering in U.S. elections. <\/p>\n<p>The announcement was revealed in a Department of Public Safety (DPS) <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sd.gov\/news?id=news_kb_article_view&amp;sys_id=2be5fdae974156507fc1b480f053afd4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a>, which noted that the &ldquo;discovery was part of a review to ensure the integrity of South Dakota&rsquo;s elections and safeguard against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-controlled-states-refuse-to-fix-election-problems\/\" title=\"Democrat-Controlled States Refuse To Fix Election Problems\">improper voter registration<\/a>.&rdquo; The agency said the efforts to remove these noncitizens from the rolls are being handled by the office of Republican Secretary of State Monae Johnson.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-587a72680d48493b420fd958d35d6afb fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-587a72680d48493b420fd958d35d6afb\"><\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;Ensuring the integrity of our elections is our highest priority,&rdquo; Johnson said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sd.gov\/news?id=news_kb_article_view&amp;sys_id=2be5fdae974156507fc1b480f053afd4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>. &ldquo;We are proud of the thorough work done to safeguard South Dakota&rsquo;s voter rolls. We worked closely with DPS to resolve this issue, and we&rsquo;re constantly working to make sure that only eligible citizens are participating in our elections.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While regularly <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/04\/biden-admin-dismisses-noncitizen-voting-because-its-already-illegal-just-like-shoplifting-and-drunk-driving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dismissed<\/a> by Democrats and their <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/06\/democrats-are-terrified-of-gop-plan-to-protect-u-s-election-from-noncitizen-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">media allies<\/a> as a non-issue, foreign nationals inserting themselves into America&rsquo;s electoral process is anything but. In recent months, numerous states have collectively removed thousands of noncitizens who were registered to vote in their respective jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Oregon announced that state officials identified &ldquo;an additional 302 people on the state&rsquo;s voter rolls who didn&rsquo;t provide proof of citizenship when they were registered to vote,&rdquo; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/oregon-mistakenly-registered-hundreds-more-voters-without-proving-citizenship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News<\/a>. That figure brings the total number of suspected noncitizens registering to vote since 2021 up from its previous estimate of 1,259 to 1,561.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the office of Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/15\/ohio-moves-to-clean-voter-rolls-after-finding-137-foreigners-registered-to-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">discovered<\/a> 137 voter registrations &ldquo;assigned to Ohio residents who have twice confirmed their non-citizenship status&rdquo; to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. State officials <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/02\/ohio-sos-finds-499-more-noncitizens-registered-to-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> in August they subsequently found an additional 499 noncitizens who were registered to vote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-614f3f0686569084b801182bb210c9b0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-614f3f0686569084b801182bb210c9b0\"><\/div>\n<p>In an August executive order, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/08\/if-democrats-want-proof-foreigners-are-registering-to-vote-virginia-just-found-6303-examples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disclosed<\/a> that the commonwealth&rsquo;s department of elections had removed 6,303 foreign nationals from the state&rsquo;s voter rolls since he took office in January 2022. Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/14\/alabama-secretary-of-state-finds-3000-potential-noncitizens-registered-to-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> that same month plans to clear 3,251 potential noncitizens from the Yellowhammer State&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-democrats-h-r-1-is-a-power-grab-would-undermine-states-election-rules\/\" title=\"Republicans: Democrats\u2019 H.R. 1 Is a Power Grab, Would Undermine States\u2019 Election Rules\">voter registration lists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Texas has similarly removed 6,500 suspected noncitizens from its voter rolls since 2021, according to an August <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/27\/texas-removes-1-million-ineligible-voters-from-rolls-including-possible-noncitizens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announcement<\/a> by Gov.
