a team captain &mdash; was arrested early Saturday morning on multiple charges.<\/p>\n<p>Per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcboston.com\/news\/local\/patriots-safety-jabrill-peppers-arrested-on-assault-charges\/3511377\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WBTS-CD<\/a>, police from Braintree, a municipality in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, arrested the 29-year-old Peppers after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/secret-service-director-clarifies-role-in-securing-trump-rally-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Secret Service director clarifies role in securing Trump rally - Washington Examiner\">local law enforcement &#038;ldquo<\/a>;responded to a disturbance.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The person who called in the disturbance noted that the altercation involved two people.<\/p>\n<p>Peppers &mdash; who re-signed with the Patriots in July to a hefty three-year, $24 million deal, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/21766\/jabrill-peppers\/contract\/summary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spotrac<\/a> &mdash; is being charged with the following, according to police:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assault and battery<\/li>\n<li>Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon<\/li>\n<li>Strangulation<\/li>\n<li>Possession of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ex-secret-service-director-kimberly-cheatle-furious-didnt-get-way-white-house-cocaine-investigation-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cocaine<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/boston\/news\/jabrill-peppers-arrest-new-england-patriots-braintree-massachusetts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a> reported that the victim, identified as a female, was treated at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet also noted that Peppers has entered not guilty pleas on all counts.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Before Peppers was released on the $2,500 bail he posted on Saturday, prosecutors asked that he have no contact with the female victim in the case,&rdquo; CBS reported. &ldquo;Peppers&rsquo; attorney agreed to the request.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Even while agreeing to that request, Peppers&rsquo; legal team is insistent on their client&rsquo;s total innocence and forthcoming exoneration.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Judge, despite the fact that this is the case where there is evidence I have already seen that sheds real doubt on the allegations, including videotaped evidence, my client will not object to that condition and he&rsquo;ll agree to the same thing,&rdquo; Peppers&rsquo; attorney said.<\/p>\n<p>Peppers, who would&rsquo;ve missed Sunday&rsquo;s game regardless due to a shoulder injury, personally informed Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo about the incident shortly after everything happened.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He called me that morning. I knew what was going on,&rdquo; Mayo told reporters Monday morning, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/patriots-jabrill-peppers-arrested-saturday-on-assault-possession-charges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NFL<\/a>. &ldquo;We&rsquo;ve informed the NFL of what was going on, and we&rsquo;re still gathering information.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots also released a statement: &ldquo;We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend in which the police are currently investigating. We will have no further comment at this time.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>CBS News reported that the next hearing in this case is slated for Nov. 22.
