And Biden made a bad situation worse when he falsely claimed that the victims were &ldquo;very happy&rdquo; with his government&rsquo;s feeble response.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe src=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/113251391355386103\/embed\" class=\"truthsocial-embed\" style=\"max-width: 100%; border: 0\" width=\"600\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><script data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/cdn-cgi\/scripts\/5c5dd728\/cloudflare-static\/email-decode.min.js\"><\/script><script src=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/embed.js\" async=\"async\"><\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Second, there was the fumbling start by Harris running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/live-blog-posts\/trump-mocks-walz-claiming-become-friends-with-school-shooters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>in his debate<\/a> with GOP vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) that had CNN anchors afterward conceding Walz lost.<\/p>\n<p>Lost in those clouds of controversy were a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-live-biden-delivers-remarks-after-jobs-report-beats-expectations\/\" title=\"LIVE: Biden speaks on positive jobs report\">positive jobs report<\/a> and the abrupt suspension of the East Coast port strike.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Donald-Trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a> visited the hurricane-ravaged area and appeared sincere when he said, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m worried about the people, not the vote.&rdquo; And on Saturday, he was traveling to Butler, Pa., the site of the first assassination attempt, for a hero&rsquo;s return.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative grader Jed Babbin highlighted the failed hurricane response in dishing an &ldquo;F.&rdquo; Democratic pollster John Zogby graded the week a &ldquo;C,&rdquo; and noted the president&rsquo;s ineffectiveness in curbing the growing Middle East crisis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jed Babbin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Grade: F<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>There was almost constant bad news for the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris this week with Gov. Tim Walz&rsquo;s (D-MN) debate performance, FEMA&rsquo;s failure to provide federal relief for the hardest-hit of the Hurricane Helene victims, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/firefighters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>firefighters<\/a>&rsquo; union deciding to not endorse, and her declaration that marijuana should be legalized. The only good news was that the longshoremen&rsquo; union decided to delay their strike until after the election.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Even the liberal media (pardon the redundancy) had to admit that Walz lost the debate with Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH). In his failed performance, Walz proclaimed himself to be a &ldquo;knucklehead&rdquo; at one point and, at another, said he was &ldquo;friends with school shooters.&rdquo; In contrast, Vance was poised and coherent.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Walz: &#8220;I&#8217;ve become friends with school shooters.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/adQy8aORl5\">pic.twitter.com\/adQy8aORl5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Daily Wire (@realDailyWire) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDailyWire\/status\/1841301645373689908?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 2, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/p>\n<p><em>The worst news of the week was that the Federal Emergency Management Agency was nowhere to be seen in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Helene. Homeland Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Alejandro-Mayorkas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Alejandro Mayorkas<\/a> blamed a lack of funding after having spent over $1 billion on illegal immigrants.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-biden-admin-blocking-private-flights-from-evacuating-americans-out-of-afghanistan-report\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Biden Admin Blocking Private Flights From Evacuating Americans Out Of Afghanistan: Report\">private rescue efforts<\/a>, of which there are many, were thwarted by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg&rsquo;s ban on drone flights over the area. And Harris, making her second trip to the disaster zone Saturday, doesn&rsquo;t want more pictures of the disaster-struck people being published.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Back at the White House, meanwhile, President Joe Biden is doing what former President Lyndon Johnson and his Defense Secretary Robert McNamara did during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Vietnam-War\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Vietnam War<\/a> &mdash; picking targets for the Israelis to hit back in response to the massive Iranian missile attack Tuesday night.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>John Zogby<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Grade: C<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>President Joe Biden&rsquo;s grade is buoyed by unequivocally good economic news this week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/unemployment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>unemployment<\/a> rate fell back down to 4.1% on the strength of 254,000 new jobs in September and a substantial upgrade in new jobs created in July and August. Wages continued to outpace the rate of inflation.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Zogby Report   10 01 24   Did We Just Witness an October Surprise?\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9ZcSAsbh2z8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><em>Biden&rsquo;s job performance averages a little over 43% in polls just this week and his designated successor, Vice President Kamala Harris continues to lead in many national polls. The news is not so good in the battleground where former President Donald Trump has gained some ground in recent days. These states remain very close so I hesitate to call either candidate &lsquo;leading.&rsquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The news for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>president<\/a>, however, turns worse as the U.S. sits by passively and allows (&lsquo;enables&rsquo;) Israel to expand to heavier bombing and now a ground war in Lebanon.
