According to\u2064 nearly two dozen Democrats, including some on her campaign team, Harris&#8217; lighter campaign schedule \u2063could \u200bhinder her\u200d chances in what is expected to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-con-defeats-incumbent-in-brazilian-presidential-election\/\" title=\"Ex-Con Defeats Incumbent In Brazilian Presidential Election\">tightly contested election<\/a>. \u2063In the last week of \u2062September, she spent only\u2064 three days in battleground states, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-vowed-to-elect-more-women-they-did-just-that\/\" title=\"Republicans Vowed To Elect More Women...They Did Just That\">recent polling shows<\/a>\u2062 her leading in just four out of seven key \u200dstates,\u200d with\u200b narrow margins of less than two percentage\u2062 points in many cases.<\/p>\n<p>Political strategist David Axelrod emphasized the importance\u200b of an aggressive campaigning style in battlegrounds,\u200d likening the presidential race\u2064 to a decathlon that requires\u200c participation in all events. Although there are plans for Harris to increase\u2063 her \u2062travel in October, a \u2064significant portion of her\u200d time since the Democratic National Convention has been devoted to internal meetings rather than public engagements. But new <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4916860-election-day-close-race-battlegrounds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"polling\">polling<\/a> released on Saturday shows Harris leading in only four of the seven key battleground states.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Neither Trump nor Harris is ahead in any of these states by more than 2 percentage points, and in five of those states, the margin for the leading candidate is less than one point.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There&rsquo;s a time at which you just have to barnstorm these battlegrounds,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/david-axelrod\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"David Axelrod\">David Axelrod<\/a>, leader of the 2008 and 2012 campaigns for President Barack Obama, told <em>Politico<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Axelrod described the race for the presidency as a decathlon, with a multitude of events, &ldquo;and you have to do all of them because people want to test you.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Insiders say the plan is for Harris to overload her travel schedule in October, but the vice president has spent more than a third of her time since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Democratic-National-Convention\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democratic National Convention<\/a> in briefings with staff and internal meetings without scheduled public events.<\/p>\n<p>Many of Harris&rsquo;s public events were also fundraisers in Democratic strongholds that are already familiar with the vice president&rsquo;s record, such as the one in San Francisco on September 28.<\/p>\n<p>Strategists supportive of Harris&rsquo;s style are also quick to note, though, that the Harris campaign needed to recover from the waning fundraising when President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> was still the leader of the ticket.<\/p>\n<p>They argue that the funds are now being used for high-profile ad buys that will reach more voters in key areas than in-person, off-the-cuff events.<\/p>\n<p>Data from AdImpact indicate that the Harris campaign spent $192 million on advertising in September compared to Trump&rsquo;s $72 million.<\/p>\n<p>But behind closed doors, some Democrats are comparing the Harris campaign to that of former Secretary of State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Hillary-Clinton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hillary Clinton<\/a>, who infamously led a play-it-safe ground game that some say cost her the 2016 election.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trump, by contrast, has taken a more hands-on approach to travel for the campaign, as he did in both 2016 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The former president is slated to hold a large rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, at the same site of the attempted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/assassinations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>assassination<\/a> against him in July.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> <script data-cfasync=\"false\"
