This comes in response to the tightening competition against incumbent\u2063 Republicans, Ted Cruz in\u200c Texas and\u2063 Rick Scott in Florida.\u2064 Both races, once considered long\u200b shots for Democrats, are \u200cnow seeing increased engagement due to\u2064 weak polling for the Republican candidates. <\/p>\n<p>Colin\u200c Allred, a Democratic representative, \u2064is\u200c challenging Cruz and has reportedly \u200cnarrowed the polling gap to about three \u200cpoints, indicating competitive momentum. Meanwhile, former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell\u200c is running\u200b against \u2063Scott,\u2062 with both candidates needing considerable financial support to boost\u2063 their campaigns in \u200bthe final stretch of the election.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) has already \u2062committed \u2062over $54 million in\u2064 advertising across various battleground states. Jon Tester&rsquo;s (D-MT) seat is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/3166629\/democrats-weigh-money-texas-florida-senate-races-tester-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>slipping away<\/a> in a race that could deliver the chamber majority to Republicans, Democrats have only just recently gone on offense with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3168317\/dscc-democratic-enthusiasm-harris-florida-texas-senate-races\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>last-minute, modest ad-buys<\/a> against Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rick Scott (R-FL).<\/p>\n<p>But they&rsquo;ll likely need to pony up millions of dollars more in campaign ads in the final month if they want to buoy their Democratic underdog challengers across the finish line. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Given the fact that the Democrats are in great danger of losing the Senate, I think you got to gamble,&rdquo; Democratic strategist Brad Bannon said. &ldquo;I think you&rsquo;ve got to pull out all stops and go into those states, even if that means pulling back some money in some of the other battleground states.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In Texas, Cruz faces Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX). In Florida, Scott is up against former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL). Polls and predictions from nonpartisan election forecasters suggest both races are tightening for seats that many Democrats once privately felt were out of play.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), chairman of the Democratic Senate Committee Campaign, who&rsquo;s tasked with keeping the majority, declined to reveal Friday whether the national party would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/woke-military-policies-to-blame-for-recruitment-crisis-servicemembers-say\/\" title=\"Woke Military Policies to Blame for Recruitment Crisis, Servicemembers Say\">commit additional resources<\/a> beyond its already announced &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dscc-weighs-in-on-late-investments-in-florida-and-texas-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"DSCC weighs in on late investments in Florida and Texas- Washington Examiner\">multimillion-dollar&#038;rdquo<\/a>; endeavor.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our challengers are running against unpopular Republican incumbents who have very weak polling,&rdquo; Peters said. &ldquo;We&rsquo;ve got momentum. The more resources we&rsquo;re able to marshal to put into Florida and Texas, I believe we have a real shot to win those as well.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sen. (AP Photo\/Jose Luis Magana)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The DSCC has placed more than <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/adimpact_pol\/status\/1839290064532025688?s=46&amp;t=rfJmXeWxF8Fp2v6QFHVSOQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"$54 million in ad reservations\">$54 million in ad reservations<\/a> this year across more than a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-can-appeal-to-black-voters-fed-up-with-justice-system-tim-scott\/\" title=\"Tim Scott says Trump can attract disgruntled black voters with justice system concerns\">half-dozen battleground states<\/a> that the party must defend to keep the majority. <\/p>\n<p>With Democrats playing defense in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Montana, Nevada, Arizona, and Ohio, there are few options to go on offense against sitting Republicans. <\/p>\n<p>Bannon said Democrats should consider pumping money into Florida and Texas to avoid &ldquo;oversaturating&rdquo; voters in swing states who are already being bombarded with presidential ads. He cited the Maryland Senate race between former Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) and Prince George&rsquo;s County Angela Alsobrooks (D) as another example of misplaced money, where Democratic PACs, including one tied to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), recently dumped more than a million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think you can spend too much in a state,&rdquo; Bannon said. &ldquo;Any extra dollar you spend in those [swing] states is not cost-effective.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Texas and Florida are both big states and with big states come big media markets with big price tags. Democrats are within striking distance, but they know their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-wakes-up-to-encouraging-news-on-morning-of-debate-kamala-appears-to-be-slipping-in-newest-poll\/\" title=\"Trump Wakes Up to Encouraging News on Morning of Debate - Kamala Appears to Be Slipping in Newest Poll\">money won&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t go as far as elsewhere in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Allred has closed his deficit to Cruz to an average of roughly <a href=\"https:\/\/elections2024.thehill.com\/texas\/texas-senate-cruz-allred\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>three points<\/a>. Mucarsel-Powell&rsquo;s race against Scott has similarly tightened to about <a href=\"https:\/\/elections2024.thehill.com\/florida\/florida-senate-scott-mucarsel-powell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>three points<\/a> behind the incumbent.<\/p>\n<p>The nonpartisan <em>Cook Political Report<\/em> has shifted Cruz&rsquo;s seat to the more competitive category &ldquo;lean Republican,&rdquo; one step shy of a &ldquo;toss-up.&rdquo; Scott&rsquo;s race is considered safer as &ldquo;likely Republican.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">The&nbsp;<em>Cook Political Report<\/em>&lsquo;s<\/span> Political Senate and Governors editor, Jessica Taylor,&nbsp;laid out the case&nbsp;that the politically savvy move for Democrats would be to stick with one: Texas.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;[I]t&rsquo;s hard to see Democrats being able to go all-in on both given the amount of defense they have to play,&rdquo; she recently wrote. &ldquo;Taking a comprehensive look at both races, we view Texas as at least slightly more competitive, as do both parties privately.
