However, he forewarned that the longer the strike continues, the bigger its effects will be.<\/p>\n<p>The strike, which began shortly after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hurricane\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hurricane<\/a> Helene tore through the southeastern U.S., has also held up necessary supplies needed to help storm victims. Buttigieg said he spoke to the Transportation departments &ldquo;with all of the affected states,&rdquo; and the necessary relief would be turned around &ldquo;in a matter of hours.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3174967\/desantis-port-strike-depriving-hurricane-victims-relief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>harshly criticized the ILA&rsquo;s port strike<\/a>, specifically because it is &ldquo;intentionally&rdquo; preventing hurricane relief from reaching those who need it. The governor added that he would do anything to ensure these supplies continue arriving, as this is &ldquo;a big concern.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ILA President Harold Daggett has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/3172874\/harold-daggett-dismisses-crippling-economy-port-strike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>dismissed concerns<\/a> that his union strike could hurt the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>economy<\/a>, claiming people &ldquo;never gave a s*** about us&rdquo; until the strike started.
