If the ride felt bumpy so far, the next month promises heavier turbulence.<\/p>\n<p>Losing campaigns save their most desperate moves for the last month before Election Day, trying to deploy an October surprise that will so shock their opponents&rsquo; supporters that they will suddenly switch sides.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-71fc39dcd15f98720da7edb3cadfdb33 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-71fc39dcd15f98720da7edb3cadfdb33\"><\/div>\n<p>But no one with a calendar is surprised by the release of Special Counsel Jack Smith&rsquo;s failed filing on former President Donald Trump, unsealed Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan.<\/p>\n<p>Yawn.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the filing is to ask the court to declare that Trump does not have presidential immunity for his actions on and related to Jan. 6. The case has been delayed numerous times, but, again, note the date. For this case to matter, the public must read it now. It won&rsquo;t matter after the election. And that is the tell.<\/p>\n<p>Like the other weaponized court cases against Trump, it is not about justice, it is about bringing down a political foe. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-54db930b8b22d3a87cd89f07213580f4 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-54db930b8b22d3a87cd89f07213580f4\"><\/div>\n<p>We see you, Mr. Smith. Like a toddler playing peekaboo, you are not fooling the grown-ups with your nit-picky, 165-page, partially redacted recounting of 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The filing alleges that Trump &ldquo;made myriad false claims regarding fraud in the presidential election,&rdquo; and it lists 19 claims Trump reportedly made, including the following: illegal drop boxes were used in Wisconsin; there was an &ldquo;unexplained &hellip; discrepancy&rdquo; between the number of mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania reported on different days; there were dead people on the voter rolls who were marked as voted; there were thousands of double votes; and flawed signature verification machines were used, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing in the filing suggests Smith ran down these concerns and verified they were all untrue. It reads as if he simply decided they were untrue without an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>It would be helpful, and a better use of the tax dollars that pay his salary, if Smith would take <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/30\/how-does-nevada-keep-bad-actors-from-abusing-its-insecure-online-voting-system-officials-cant-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seriously<\/a> and look <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/16\/gop-mostly-shut-out-of-2024-watchdog-poll-worker-positions-in-detroit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">closer<\/a> at some of the election <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/18\/exclusive-new-report-details-growing-threat-of-noncitizens-voting-in-u-s-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">integrity<\/a> claims first raised by the 2020 election, because 2024 is here now, and we are already seeing similar election <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/26\/wisconsin-congressman-wants-answers-on-madisons-2200-duplicate-ballots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anomalies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-990f3026607eda2f97a1f3d6038d6534 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-990f3026607eda2f97a1f3d6038d6534\"><\/div>\n<p>That is what so many people have really wanted since 2020: someone in the government to check out these concerns and either fix the problems or prove specifically how the election procedures are secure. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is impossible to predict how many more attempts will be made to assassinate Trump&rsquo;s character, or his life. How many more schemes will start with a juicy &ldquo;This time we&rsquo;ve got him,&rdquo; then quietly wimp under scrutiny?<\/p>\n<p>This is election interference. The Biden-Harris campaign a few months ago and the Harris-Walz campaign now need interference to create distractions from their incompetence.
