This\u200c legislation, officially known as House Bill 1365, was passed by the state legislature and\u200d signed \u2062by Governor Ron DeSantis. While most \u2062components of the law are in effect,\u200d a provision allowing for lawsuits against cities that fail to address homelessness will not take effect until January 1, 2025. \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>The law also calls for the establishment of alternative shelters when local shelters are at capacity and\u2063 mandates \u2062access to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/father-considers-lawsuit-against-gender-clinic-for-affirming-9-year-old-autistic-son-as-transgender-lesbian\/\" title=\"Father Considers Lawsuit Against Gender Clinic For Affirming 9-Year-Old Autistic Son As Transgender Lesbian\">behavioral health services<\/a> for homeless individuals. Signs Near-Total Abortion Ban That Supporters Hope Will Force SCOTUS To Revisit Roe v. Wade\">law takes effect<\/a>. (AP Photo\/Lynne Sladky)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>House Bill 1365 also calls for alternative shelters to be erected if all the homeless shelters in the area are full and for localities to provide &ldquo;access to behavioral health services&rdquo; for homeless individuals.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis hailed the new legislation as helping preserve quality of life for Floridians while helping homeless people &ldquo;get back on their feet.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Florida will not allow homeless encampments to intrude on its citizens or undermine their quality of life like we see in states like New York and California,&rdquo;&nbsp;DeSantis said in a statement in March.&nbsp;&ldquo;The legislation I signed today upholds our commitment to law and order while also ensuring homeless individuals have the resources they need to get back on their feet.&rdquo;
