Tim Walz of Minnesota has fought intense nerves ahead of Tuesday&rsquo;s vice-presidential debate against Republican Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-jd-vance-drops-fiery-take-kamalas-lead-says-harris-doesnt-like-numbers-newest-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">J.D. Vance<\/a> of Ohio, former President Donald Trump&rsquo;s running mate.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly a dozen Harris campaign insiders confirmed Walz&rsquo;s frequent expressions of pre-debate anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>Why exactly they would reveal such a thing remains a mystery.<\/p>\n<p>  <script> \t\t\t\tif( ! getCookie( 'ff_subbed' ) ) if( typeof FFADS.replace_ict !='undefined' ) if( FFADS.replace_ict ) eval( FFADS.replace_ict ); \t\t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/09\/29\/walz-s-debate-nerves-sneak-peek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios<\/a> speculated that the CNN report amounted to &ldquo;expectation management.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Dovere, however, specifically noted that &ldquo;aides insist this isn&rsquo;t just about setting expectations.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Of course, if you intended to set low expectations for Walz, you would hardly admit to it.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the aides&rsquo; denial of intent to set such expectations makes sense. But their openness about Walz&rsquo;s apparent nerves still does not.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, it made no obvious sense when, late last week, the Harris campaign sent out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/harris-campaign-admits-kamala-losing-key-states-falling-behind-desperate--supporters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fundraising <\/a> that highlighted Trump&rsquo;s polling strength in the three anticipated swing states of Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>Nor did it make obvious sense when, last Wednesday, Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan admitted that pollsters for her Senate campaign have Harris &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/battleground-congresswoman-warns-fellow-democrats-kamala-harris-status-underwater\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">underwater<\/a>&rdquo; in that crucial swing state.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps both Slotkin and the Harris campaign merely tried to spur fundraising by intensifying donors&rsquo; sense of urgency.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, highlighting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/carson-points-out-that-every-democratic-plan-has-backfired-in-trumps-favor-as-seen-in-the-bible-2\/\" title=\"Carson points out that every Democratic plan has backfired in Trump&#039;s favor, as seen in the Bible\">vice president&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s polling weaknesses probably strikes most observers as an amateurish act of extreme desperation.<\/p>\n<p>In short, either Democrats have no idea what they are doing, or they have stumbled upon a psychological tactic that they believe will influence the minds of voters whom they need to capture.<\/p>\n<p>One cannot dismiss the latter possibility.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, for reasons few conservatives instinctively understand, the Harris campaign&rsquo;s admission of Walz&rsquo;s nervousness has powerful, manipulative potential.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, one suspects that when most conservatives think of Walz they immediately remember his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kamala-harris-campaign-quietly-changes-website-tim-walzs-stolen-valor-scandal-intensifies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stolen-valor<\/a> scandal. Perhaps, too, they recall his record as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ron-desantis-exposes-tim-walzs-hypocrisy-calling-snitch-hotline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID-era tyrant<\/a>, as well as his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-normal-tim-walz-supports-10-year-olds-getting-transgender-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unhealthy interest<\/a> in children&rsquo;s sexuality.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, we see in Walz a combination of dishonesty, cowardice and even creepiness. And we regard his authoritarian bullying as a sign that he probably has deep feelings of personal inadequacy.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, no society in human history has ever recognized those qualities as &ldquo;masculine.&rdquo; Yet Democrats have gone out of their way to depict <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/espn-host-lauds-tim-walzs-different-kind-masculinity-promptly-gets-ripped-respected-reporter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Walz<\/a> as a harbinger of a new kind of masculinity.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The guy is reclaiming old White dude masculinity away from toxicity,&rdquo; one unnamed Walz acquaintance told Dovere.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, viewed as part of a larger project to redefine masculinity itself, the Harris campaign&rsquo;s decision to reveal Walz&rsquo;s nervousness in the face of a superior debater like Vance makes total sense.<\/p>\n<p>How else might this constitute manipulation?<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that Democrats, particularly in the age of wokeness, regard one&rsquo;s alleged victimhood as empowering. The more beleaguered you claim to be &mdash; never mind the truth of it &mdash; the more the world owes you.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, they have perverted and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/spite-vote-uncovering-trump-haters-vote-best-interests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weaponized<\/a> basic human compassion.<\/p>\n<p>To accomplish this, they have inverted the plain meaning of words. In that way, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/government-secretly-worked-universities-big-tech-censor-americans-congressional-report-reveals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">censorship<\/a> becomes democracy, so you must support the censors. Men can become women, so you must allow every dress-wearing male into your daughter&rsquo;s spaces. And strength becomes oppression, so you must admire all forms of professed weakness.<\/p>\n<p>Concurrently, they have created categories of alleged victims toward whom, they say, one must direct one&rsquo;s compassion. Most of these categories involve skin color or chromosomes. While Walz&rsquo;s whiteness and maleness would otherwise exclude him, his new and trailblazing brand of &ldquo;old White dude masculinity&rdquo; actually makes him a perfect candidate.<\/p>\n<p>It all comes together in the mind of a woke Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, had Walz simply appeared on the debate stage Tuesday, viewers would have had no reason to think anything unusual.<\/p>\n<p>Now, however, Harris campaign operatives have prepped viewers with reports of Walz&rsquo;s nervousness. In so doing, they have made him an object worthy of this new, perverted compassion.<\/p>\n<p>Does all of this sound far-fetched? Perhaps it is. Perhaps it gives the Democrats too much credit. After all, the Harris campaign might simply qualify as desperate and amateurish.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-versus-biden-revisited-75th-anniversary-orwells-1984\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">totalitarian<\/a> Marxists have shown for more than a century that they understand psychological manipulation.
