The operations commenced on a Monday evening and\u2062 are \u200ddescribed as limited in scope and duration. U.S. officials \u2063have been\u2064 briefed that\u2064 these operations are specifically aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure near the Israel-Lebanon border.<\/p>\n<p>The IDF\u2064 stated that the raids are focused \u200don precise targets in villages close to the border that are viewed as immediate \u2063threats to communities in\u2064 northern Israel. The military&#8217;s\u200c planned approach, titled &#8220;Operation Northern Arrows,&#8221; has been in preparation \u2062for several months, with support \u2064from Israeli air force\u200c strikes and artillery targeting \u2062military objectives in \u2063the area. U.S. officials have reportedly been told that the operations will be limited in scope, scale, and duration.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is what they have informed us that they are currently conducting, which are limited operations targeting Hezbollah infrastructure near the border,&rdquo; a State Department spokesman told journalists.<\/p>\n<p>The IDF said the raids are targeted to the border area of southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Israeli shelling hits an area in southern Lebanon as seen from northern Israel, Monday, Sept. 30, 2024. (AP Photo\/Leo Correa)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;In accordance with the decision of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-israel-and-hamas-agree-to-ceasefire-proposal-brokered-by-egypt\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Israel And Hamas Agree To Ceasefire; Proposal Brokered By Egypt\">political echelon<\/a>, a few hours ago, the IDF began limited, localized, and targeted ground raids based on precise intelligence against Hezbollah terrorist targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon,&rdquo; the agency said, adding that its targets are located in villages near the border and &ldquo;pose an immediate threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The IDF&rsquo;s &ldquo;methodical plan&rdquo; was put in motion by the General Staff and the Northern Command, and the agency said its soldiers have trained and prepared for this operation in recent months.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli air force and IDF artillery are &ldquo;supporting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/stealth-fighters-performance-not-living-up-to-the-price-tag\/\" title=\"Stealth Fighter\u2019s Performance Not Living Up to the Price Tag\">ground forces<\/a> with precise strikes on military targets in the area,&rdquo; the IDF added, saying political officials sanctioned the operation titled &ldquo;Operation Northern Arrows.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The operation &ldquo;will continue according to the situational assessment and in parallel to combat in Gaza and in other arenas. The IDF is continuing to operate to achieve the goals of the war and is doing everything necessary to defend the citizens of Israel and return the citizens of northern Israel to their homes,&rdquo; the IDF concluded.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes after the IDF <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/world\/3170265\/idf-assassinates-another-top-hezbollah-commander\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>assassinated<\/a> top Hezbollah&nbsp;commander Nabil Qaouk and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last week.<\/p>\n<p>Last October, when Hezbollah&rsquo;s attacks began, Israel ordered tens of thousands of citizens in the northern part of its country to evacuate south, and Israeli officials have pointed to their continued displacement as the primary reason for its current escalation.
