Thanks to the return of common sense, however, that has begun to change.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/world\/americas\/argentina-milei-rent-control-free-market-5345c3d5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>, Argentine President Javier Milei &mdash; sometimes called the &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/media-warned-us-argentinas-trump-months-later-already-turning-country-around\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Argentine Trump<\/a>&rdquo; for his stylistic and substantive similarities to former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/president-argentine-president-javier-milei-trump-interaction-goes-viral-cpac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> &mdash; has produced a &ldquo;rental-market boom&rdquo; in Buenos Aires by adopting libertarian free-market principles and removing the socialist rent controls preferred by leftist politicians worldwide, including Vice President Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, since his election in November, Milei has eliminated most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-to-vote-on-democrat-insulin-bill-viewed-as-election-boon-for-raphael-warnock\/\" title=\"House to Vote on Democrat Insulin Bill Viewed as Election Boon for Raphael Warnock\">government price controls<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/housing\/365063\/kamala-harris-housing-rent-control-landlords\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vox<\/a>, Harris told rallygoers in Atlanta last month that she would &ldquo;take on corporate landlords and cap unfair rent increases.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>  <script> \t\t\t\tif( ! getCookie( 'ff_subbed' ) ) if( typeof FFADS.replace_ict !='undefined' ) if( FFADS.replace_ict ) eval( FFADS.replace_ict ); \t\t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: &#039;Pipeline&#039; to Obama Admin Seen as &#039;Currency&#039;\">vice president<\/a> has also proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/even-wapo-cant-defend-kamala-already-called-communist-maybe-dont-propose-price-controls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">socialist-style price controls<\/a> for groceries.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, Harris has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-kamala-harris-casually-calls-australian-style-national-gun-confiscation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">authoritarian instincts<\/a>. She believes that federal bureaucrats, not individuals operating in a free market, should determine &ldquo;fair&rdquo; prices.<\/p>\n<p>If, however, the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee wants to find empirical support for her authoritarian socialist proposals, then she will have to look somewhere other than Milei&rsquo;s Argentina.<\/p>\n<p>Economist Federico Gonz&aacute;lez Rouco quantified Milei&rsquo;s impact on the rental market. He noted, for instance, that in Buenos Aires, the supply of rental units has increased by more than 170 percent, while inflation-adjusted prices have declined by 40 percent since October, according to the Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;With good intentions or a law,&rdquo; Rouco said, referring to Harris&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-leans-left-in-bid-to-secure-nomination-washington-examiner-2\/\" title=\"Biden leans left in bid to secure nomination - Washington Examiner\">proposed rent caps<\/a>, &ldquo;you can&rsquo;t modify how markets work. They have their own dynamic.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Shockingly but unsurprisingly, under socialist rent-control laws, approximately 200,000 Buenos Aires properties sat empty in 2022.&nbsp; &ldquo;Landlords [preferred] to keep them vacant, or lease them as vacation rentals, rather than comply with the government&rsquo;s rent law,&rdquo; the Journal reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/javier-milei-rent-control-argentina-us-election-kamala-harris-housing-affordability-1938127\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsweek<\/a>, Milei brought relief on that front when he repealed the 2020 Rental Law.
