This situation has sparked concern \u2064among local \u2063residents\u200d and pet owners, \u200bas no remains have been \u200bfound. The pattern of disappearances began in late August, with\u2063 reports \u200bindicating up to 16 missing cats\u200d in \u200bjust over a month. However, many \u200cpet owners and the\u200d Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife dispute this theory, pointing out\u2064 that the neighborhood has coexisted with local predators\u2063 like \u2062foxes and coyotes for years\u200d without \u200csuch incidents. The number of missing cats soon increased.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There was never this kind of spike of this kind of activity,&rdquo; Matt Morgan, the owner of missing feline Eloise, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscentermaine.com\/article\/life\/pets\/fairmount-neighborhood-cat-disappearance-mystery\/97-cb7980da-6231-4122-96d2-19d2f142b584\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WCSH-TV<\/a>, &ldquo;and the animals that disappeared were either found later, or it just wasn&rsquo;t at that rate.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>  <script> \t\t\t\tif( !
