The\u2063 subpoena, issued by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, required Wade to testify \u2062on September 20. Despite attempts \u2064to contact\u200c him, including involving\u200d the U.S. Marshals Service, \u2062Wade confirmed receipt of the subpoena only on the morning of \u200bthe deposition but failed to \u200bappear. Wade&#8217;s\u200d lack of response over\u200b the days leading up to\u2063 the deposition was characterized as\u200b \u201cclearly dilatory\u201d by a Republican \u200dlawyer familiar with the situation. Previously, another Republican lawyer told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that Wade&rsquo;s lack of response to the subpoena for several days was &ldquo;clearly dilatory.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Wade&rsquo;s lawyer Andrew Evans did not respond to a request for comment. Wade&rsquo;s law office has not responded to multiple requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Wade&rsquo;s apparent avoidance of the subpoena until it was too late for him to physically appear in Washington comes after Jordan opened an inquiry this year into Wade&rsquo;s role in Willis&rsquo;s prosecution of former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Willis hired Wade to lead the prosecution in 2021, but an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/i-love-you-brother-don-lemon-says-cnn-shouldnt-pay-chris-cuomos-severance\/\" title=\"\u2018I Love You, Brother\u2019: Don Lemon Says CNN Shouldn\u2019t Pay Chris Cuomo\u2019s Severance\">undisclosed romantic relationship<\/a> between the pair led Wade to resign from the case in March.
