Numerous close associates have since been investigated, raided, and arrested, some as recently as this month, presenting a chaotic image of his administration. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/09\/25\/nyregion\/aoc-eric-adams-resign.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>a statement<\/a> to the <em>New York Times<\/em> on Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez became the most prominent Democrat to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/an-impeachable-offense-new-york-democrat-demands-cuomo-face-inquiry-over-nursing-home-order\/\" title=\"\u2018An Impeachable Offense\u2019: New York Democrat Demands Cuomo Face Inquiry Over Nursing Home Order\">openly call<\/a> on Adams to resign.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Rep. Gustavo Rivera. Ocasio-Cortez&rsquo;s call opens the door for other elected Democrats to follow suit.<\/p>\n<p>However, the top Democrat in the House of Representatives, Minority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Hakeem-Jeffries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hakeem Jeffries<\/a> (D-NY), a fellow New Yorker, refrained from making the demand of Adams.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Eric Adams is working as hard as he can to be the best mayor possible and meet the needs of the residents of New York City,&rdquo; Jeffries said on Wednesday. &ldquo;We need Eric Adams to be successful as mayor because he is the mayor at this moment.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adams&rsquo;s phone and iPad were seized in November, one of the first indications of a major investigation. In July, the mayor was served two grand jury subpoenas.
