The letter, attributed \u2064to Georgia \u2064NALC President Don Griggs, warns \u200dthat a Trump administration could pose an\u200b &#8220;existential threat&#8221; to the union and its contracts. It emphasizes the\u2064 importance of voting wisely, highlighting Trump\u2019s &#8220;Project 2025,&#8221; which the letter claims \u200bcould dismantle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/govt-workers-sue-connecticut-to-avoid-returning-to-work\/\" title=\"Govt Workers Sue Connecticut to Avoid Returning to Work\">public employee unions<\/a>, impose company-controlled unions \u2062in the private sector, allow states to disregard federal\u2064 wage laws, and \u200brepeal the Davis-Bacon Act.<\/p>\n<p>The letter asserts that \u200dsome union members may prefer to keep politics separate from union\u2063 matters, but argues that the two are closely connected in this election cycle. The NALC, which\u2063 is affiliated with the AFL-CIO,\u2063 has endorsed Democrat Vice\u2063 President Kamala Harris, seeing\u2062 her \u2064as a\u2064 pro-labor ally. Griggs,\u2063 however, clarified that \u200bhe did not authorize the letter\u200c and was \u200bunaware it was being \u200dsent out until after it had already circulated. He expressed concern\u2064 over the way such communications are handled by the national union.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>If former President Donald Trump wins November&rsquo;s election, he would pose an &ldquo;existential threat&rdquo; &mdash; at least according to a letter apparently from the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), obtained by The Federalist.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If Donald Trump wins the upcoming election, it could prove an existential threat to our union and our contract,&rdquo; the letter reads. &ldquo;Your vote matters: consider how the consequences could affect you, your job, and our union when deciding how to vote.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The letter appears to be signed &ldquo;in solidarity&rdquo; by Georgia NALC President Don Griggs. It takes issue specifically with Trump and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/11\/democrats-continue-to-spew-lies-about-the-contents-of-project-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Project 2025<\/a>, leftists&rsquo; favorite catch-all bogeyman.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Donald Trump and his allies have put together an extensive plan for the next year, if he takes office and appoints anti-union allies throughout the executive branch,&rdquo; the letter reads. &ldquo;Our union cannot afford to risk the proposals in Project 2025 becoming a reality.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The letter claims Project 2025 would &ldquo;ban all public employee unions and replace private-sector unions with company-controlled unions,&rdquo; &ldquo;let states opt out of federal overtime and minimum wage&rdquo; requirements, and repeal the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/agencies\/whd\/laws-and-regulations\/laws\/dbra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Davis-Bacon Act<\/a>, which places wage requirements on government projects.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There are members who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/despite-insistence-by-democrat-politicians-and-medical-elites-empirical-evidence-does-not-conclusively-show-that-masks-reduce-the-spread-of-covid\/\" title=\"Despite Insistence by Democrat Politicians and Medical Elites, Empirical Evidence DOES NOT Conclusively Show that Masks Reduce the Spread of COVID\">don&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t like our union talking about politics,&rdquo; the letter reads. &ldquo;This year, however, the two are inextricably linked to the future of our union.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), with whom the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nalc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NALC<\/a> is affiliated, has <a href=\"https:\/\/betterinaunion.org\/harris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endorsed<\/a> Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her a &ldquo;key partner in leading the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/harriss-vp-picks-could-have-problems-with-some-of-the-left-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Harris\u2019s VP picks could have problems with some of the Left - Washington Examiner\">pro-labor administration<\/a> in our lifetimes.&rdquo; The NALC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nalc.org\/news\/nalc-updates\/nalc-endorses-harris-walz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endorsed<\/a> Harris on Sept. 12, saying that she &ldquo;will work with NALC to address unique challenges facing letter carriers.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Griggs told The Federalist the letter came not from him, but from the national union &mdash; without his permission.&nbsp;&ldquo;They told me they were going to send me some information as we got closer to the election, and I had no idea they were sending out a letter with my name,&rdquo; Griggs said. &ldquo;I never would have sent anything out like that.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He said he received the letter two to three days after others began talking about it.&nbsp;&ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t see it until I got it myself,&rdquo; Griggs said. &ldquo;When people were calling me about it, I had no idea what they were talking about.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Griggs said he would have contacted the AFL-CIO about this if he &ldquo;knew how to get in touch with them.&rdquo; He said he thinks the national union should send messages from its own office, not state offices.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t have a problem with them sending out something to the membership, but as far as attaching my name to it without my permission, that was a different story,&rdquo; Griggs said. &ldquo;They were trying to get a message out.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The letter directs recipients to a page run by the AFL-CIO, containing <a href=\"https:\/\/betterinaunion.org\/project-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">scare tactics<\/a> about &ldquo;Trump&rsquo;s Project 2025.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are deeply concerned about pro-corporate policies that would drive up costs, put people out of work, endanger people&rsquo;s lives and make it harder for working people to get ahead,&rdquo; the website reads. &ldquo;Navigate the issues below to learn why the agenda detailed in Project 2025 would be catastrophic for working people.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The web page goes on to explain Project 2025 relating to multiple issues like &ldquo;immigration,&rdquo; &ldquo;civil rights,&rdquo; and &ldquo;retirement security.&rdquo; It directs users to a portal where they can <a href=\"https:\/\/betterinaunion.org\/register\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">register<\/a> to vote.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Federalist reached out to AFL-CIO, but a representative did not comment in time for publication.
