Previously, Routh, 58, was only being charged with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3155363\/ryan-routh-facing-gun-charges-after-trump-assassination-attempt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>two gun felonies<\/a>. A judge ruled on Monday that Routh would stay in prison as he awaits his trial.<\/p>\n<p>Routh has now been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/media\/1370506\/dl?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"charged\">charged<\/a> by a grand jury with the &ldquo;attempted assassination of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/you-took-it-hook-line-and-sinker-rand-paul-grills-fbi-director-over-2016-trump-russia-investigation\/\" title=\"\u2018You Took It Hook, Line And Sinker\u2019: Rand Paul Grills FBI Director Over 2016 Trump-Russia Investigation\">major presidential candidate<\/a>.&rdquo; He also faces four other charges, two of which he held prior to Tuesday: possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, assaulting a federal officer, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.<\/p>\n<p>Routh was accused of staking out at the sixth hole of Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, for 12 hours on Sept. 15, allegedly waiting for Trump to get in range so he could assassinate him.
