AAPLOG ‍CEO⁢ Dr. Christina Francis ⁤expressed‌ concerns about‌ misinformation perpetuated by ‍Democrats and ⁢the corporate media that mischaracterizes pro-life legislation as detrimental ⁤to patient care. Now, she and her organization are hoping that ACOG, “despite our differences in opinions on induced abortion,” can also “come together to improve education and patient outcomes.”

“Lying to patients and physicians can have deadly consequences. For our colleagues and
patients, medical organizations must commit to educating the public based on facts, not political
agendas (on either side),” Francis wrote.

According to Francis, ACOG can begin by educating the public and its members on the risks of mifepristone and misoprostol “and advocate for safeguards to ensure that women receive appropriate supervision during the abortion process.”

“This would include an in-person evaluation to rule out contraindications and at least one follow-up visit to ensure she is not experiencing complications,” Francis noted.

Francis also encouraged ACOG to “work with state-level attorneys general, health departments, and medical boards to ensure that physicians are receiving appropriate guidance on their state laws” and “promote educational content that offers clarity on state abortion laws and empowers
physicians to offer their patients the care they need.”

Finally, Francis said ACOG can and should do everything in its power to dispel the myth that women who are suffering complications from induced abortion “will not be prosecuted for seeking care.”

“Our nation’s maternal mortality rate is already shamefully high, with 80% of maternal deaths
being preventable – including Ms. Thurman’s and Ms. Miller’s. Wade. It was only after that 2022 decision that the pro-abortion crowd began falsely claiming that medical professionals are at risk of penalty and punishment for performing their duty to care for patients.

AAPLOG is correct in identifying ACOG as one of the organizations that has enough power and influence to change that distortion. ACOG’s history of hostility towards pro-life doctors and pro-life laws, however, suggests the organization is more interested in advancing a pro-abortion agenda than correcting twisted narratives about ending life in the womb.

In fact, ACOG, which proudly classifies abortion as “essential health care,” is one of the top purveyors and supporters of abortion deception.

Contrary to evidence showing preborn infants form pain receptors as early as 10 weeks gestation, ACOG claims babies in the womb do not feel pain until at least 24 weeks. However, it is unlikely to do so as it conflicts with their pro-abortion stance. Dr. Christina Francis, CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG), wrote a letter on Monday to Dr. Sandra E. Brooks, CEO of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), urging her to combat misinformation propagated by the media that seeks to vilify lifesaving laws in numerous states.

Democrats and mainstream media have inaccurately asserted that legislation in conservative states restricting abortion prevents doctors from performing their duties, denies women treatment for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies, and exposes women seeking abortions to legal repercussions. These falsehoods—particularly concerning dangerous drugs responsible for over half of U.S. abortions—have jeopardized the lives of women like Amber Thurman and Candi Miller.

Dr. Francis highlighted that AAPLOG has dedicated the two years following the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson decision to clarifying pro-life laws for medical professionals. She expressed hope that ACOG could also collaborate with them “to enhance education and patient outcomes,” despite differing views on induced abortion.

“Lying to patients and physicians can lead to fatal outcomes,” she stated, emphasizing that medical organizations should commit themselves to educating based on facts rather than political agendas from either side.

Francis suggested ACOG start by informing both its members and the public about mifepristone’s risks while advocating for measures ensuring proper supervision during abortions—including an in-person evaluation before procedures—and at least one follow-up visit post-procedure.

She also encouraged ACOG to collaborate with state attorneys general, health departments, and medical boards for appropriate guidance on state laws while promoting educational resources clarifying these laws so physicians can provide necessary care effectively.

Furthermore, she urged ACOG to dispel myths surrounding prosecution risks faced by women experiencing complications from induced abortions when seeking care.

With maternal mortality rates already alarmingly high—80% being preventable—Francis stressed that physicians must not allow any more patients they are sworn to protect suffer due misunderstandings about state abortion policies or distorted narratives regarding abortion medications.

Doctors who neglect their Hippocratic oath by failing adequate care are not restricted by pro-life legislation; rather these laws include exceptions allowing them legal authority in critical situations—a fact noted during a recent press conference where Katie Daniel from SBA Pro-Life America pointed out these exceptions remained consistent pre- and post-Dobbs ruling without causing confusion until after Roe v. Wade was overturned when misleading claims began circulating about potential penalties against medical professionals fulfilling their responsibilities toward patients.

AAPLOG rightly identifies ACOG as a powerful entity capable of correcting such misconceptions; however, given its history opposing pro-life doctors/laws suggests a preference towards advancing a pro-abortion agenda instead of rectifying misrepresentations surrounding fetal life issues.

ACOG classifies abortion as “essential healthcare” yet propagates misleading claims regarding fetal pain perception at various gestational stages while discouraging accurate terminology related pregnancy practices among its members.

Recently reaffirming commitment against life-saving regulations under false pretenses claiming interference within medicine practice further illustrates this trend.

If Democrats alongside ACOG truly aimed at safeguarding women’s health now & into future they’d strive diligently towards resolving existing confusions around abortion instead they perpetuate chaos benefiting politically whilst undermining efforts made by organizations like AAPLOG working tirelessly against such misinformation campaigns.

Jordan Boyd serves as staff writer at The Federalist contributing insights across multiple platforms including The Daily Wire & Fox News after graduating Baylor University majoring Political Science minoring Journalism; follow her updates via X @jordanboydtx

[4606,16639,8347
post-2345295","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-healthcare","tag-ob-gyn","tag-pro-life
["GET
