Routh has been charged with two gun crimes:&nbsp;possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.<\/p>\n<p>The Secret Service prevented Routh from shooting the former president at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sept. 15. The gunman was spotted hiding in the bushes with a semiautomatic rifle just 400 yards away from Trump.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster.
