Current polling suggests Trump is in a stronger ‍position compared to⁣ the past; he ⁤is reportedly deadlocked with Vice President Kamala Harris, contrasting sharply with his earlier campaigns where he trailed by significant margins.

Trump’s increasing popularity among key voter ⁤demographics, including white evangelicals and male voters, may ‌contribute to‍ his enhanced chances. He’s even made inroads with female voters. Biden held a 22-point advantage over Trump with the voting bloc four years ago, while Clinton held a 20-point advantage in 2016, according to Marist polling. Harris is polling lower than either of her Democratic predecessors with a 15-point lead over Trump.

Trump has also made inroads with black voters, long considered safe votes for Democrats.

During his 2020 presidential election, Trump captured 8% of the black vote, according to the Pew Research Center.

The latest New York Times polling indicates he’s nearly doubled his margin of support with 15% support among black voters. Other polls indicate the number is even higher.

During a similar point of his presidential campaign in 2012, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney held 0% of black support nationally.

The news comes after Trump has ventured into majority-minority Democratic strongholds across the country numerous times over the past year. From the Bronx and Atlanta to Philadelphia and Detroit, he’s touted policies he says have helped the black community.

During an appearance before a National Association of Black Journalists conference in July, Trump harped on “one of the greatest programs ever for black workers and black entrepreneurs” as he celebrated Opportunity Zones. He lost the popular vote by 2 percentage points in 2016 and by 4 points in 2020. Despite his defeat four years ago, Trump frequently reminds audiences that he received more votes than any Republican candidate ever during the 2020 election, claiming he garnered more votes than any sitting president in history during his recent debate with Kamala Harris.

Current polling suggests that Trump is better positioned to win the popular vote this time compared to past elections. For instance, New York Times data indicated that Biden had an 8-point lead over Trump as of September 2020 and that Trump was trailing Hillary Clinton by 7 points at a similar point in the race back in 2016. However, recent polls show Trump is now nearly tied with Vice President Harris.

Trump has historically exceeded polling expectations; he surprised many when he won the presidency in 2016 and again defied predictions four years later. Growing enthusiasm among key voter demographics could also contribute to an increase in his popular vote numbers. For example, support from white evangelicals rose from 73% in 2016 to 82%, according to a Marist College poll released recently. Additionally, Trump’s popularity among male voters has increased by seven points since facing Biden.

He has also made gains with female voters; while Biden had a significant advantage of 22 points over him four years ago and Clinton held a similar lead of about twenty points back then, Harris currently leads Trump by only fifteen points according to Marist polling. Furthermore, Trump’s appeal appears to be growing among black voters—traditionally strong supporters of Democrats—having captured only eight percent of their votes during the last election but now reportedly receiving around fifteen percent support based on New York Times polling.

Trump’s outreach efforts have included visits to predominantly minority Democratic areas across various cities like Atlanta and Philadelphia where he’s promoted policies aimed at benefiting black communities. He highlighted initiatives such as Opportunity Zones designed for distressed neighborhoods during appearances at events like one hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists.

Additionally, he’s making strides with younger voters who are disillusioned with Harris due to her stance on issues like Gaza conflict; she faces challenges trying not alienate traditional pro-Israel Democrats while appealing broadly enough for young people’s support. While she focuses on rallies and traditional media engagements—having conducted few interviews this year—Trump has reached millions through unconventional media channels including podcasts and social media platforms where he’s shared personal stories about family struggles with addiction.

If Trump continues leveraging these new avenues for communication effectively while expanding his audience reach further into diverse demographics leading up until Election Day, it could significantly boost his overall voter count come November

[32431,34541,41489,3634,32076
post-2344660","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-2024-election","tag-election-strategy","tag-popular-vote","tag-trump","tag-washington-examiner
["GET
