They took materials that came into my possession approximately 20 years ago and are unrelated to my work with the New York City Police Department,&rdquo; the statement <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nypd-commissioner-donlon-searched-e5aafbff1ab6425788a7539cbc55221e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"read\">read<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is not a department matter, and the department will not be commenting,&rdquo; it added.<\/p>\n<p>New York City&rsquo;s deputy mayor for communications, Fabien Levy, was similarly opaque with details.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As we have repeatedly said, we expect all team members to fully comply with any law enforcement inquiry,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Donlon, a security expert with an extensive background in national security and working with the FBI, was appointed interim police commissioner by Mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Eric-Adams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Eric Adams<\/a> as a stabilizing move amid growing chaos surrounding investigations into the city.<\/p>\n<p>Citing sources familiar with the matter, the <em>New York Post<\/em> reported that authorities were looking to see if Donlon had taken classified materials during his work with the FBI.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The deluge began in November 2023, when the FBI raided the homes of two Adams associates. Adams&rsquo;s phone and iPad were seized days later. In July, the mayor was served two Grand Jury subpoenas.
