He is refuting claims that he referred to himself as a “black Nazi” and used racist, antisemitic, and homophobic language on a message board associated with adult content. A CNN report published Thursday outlined accusations against Robinson, including derogatory remarks about Martin Luther King Jr., support for reinstating slavery, and explicit comments made on the forum “Nude Africa.” The report claims to have verified these posts by matching various personal details and an email address linked to Robinson with an account named “minisoldr.” These comments were made between 2008 and 2012, prior to his tenure as lieutenant governor. Robinson dismissed the report as “salacious tabloid trash” and likened his situation to being subjected to “a high-tech lynching,” quoting Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. He accused his Democratic opponent, state Attorney General Josh Stein, of leaking this information.

In a video statement released shortly before the allegations surfaced, Robinson assured supporters that he would remain in the race despite speculation about his potential withdrawal. He emphasized that the statements attributed to him do not reflect his character or words: “We are staying in this race; we are in it to win it.” Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign attempted to connect him with former President Donald Trump—who endorsed Robinson—by sharing a video where Trump claimed Robinson was “better than Martin Luther King.”

Senator Ted Budd expressed concern over the allegations but noted there were no confirmed facts at that time. Richard Hudson from the National Republican Congressional Committee also found them troubling but suggested that Robinson should provide more detailed assurances regarding their veracity.

Robinson has faced criticism for previous statements advocating for a total abortion ban; however, he later clarified his position by supporting North Carolina’s current 12-week ban with exceptions. The recent report also included disturbing quotes where he allegedly expressed nostalgia for slavery and stated some people should be enslaved: “I wish they would bring (slavery) back. I would certainly buy a few.” Current polls indicate that Robinson is trailing behind Stein in what is considered an important gubernatorial race impacting both local politics and presidential elections in North Carolina—a key swing state for both Harris and Trump

[538
34059,36091,41264,32603,32076
post-2343589","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-washington-examiner","tag-election-2024","tag-mark-robinson","tag-north-carolina-governor","tag-political-news","tag-washington-examiner
["GET
