Gavin Newsom for state prohibitions that prevent schools from telling parents about student requests to identify as a different gender without the student&rsquo;s consent.<\/p>\n<p>In July, the state&rsquo;s far-left governor signed Assembly Bill 1955, which bars school officials from notifying parents when their children go by different names or request to use bathrooms for the opposite sex unless the children consent to the notification. The bill further bars any policy that would require schools to inform parents of their child&rsquo;s gender &ldquo;transition.&rdquo; The pro-Trump legal foundation, America First Legal, filed a lawsuit Wednesday to challenge the law on behalf of California parents and the City of Huntington Beach, which has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2023-12-13\/huntington-beach-sticking-it-to-woke-california-at-what-cost-to-residents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resisting<\/a> Sacramento radicalism since conservatives captured a majority on the town council two years ago.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ab68f72871ba6d7678f410b914d6aae1 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ab68f72871ba6d7678f410b914d6aae1\"><\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;This law violates the 14th Amendment, which guarantees the rights of parents to make decisions about their minor children regarding all medical treatment &mdash; in this case, social &lsquo;transitioning,&rsquo;&rdquo; the nonprofit said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/aflegal.org\/america-first-legal-sues-gavin-newsom-on-behalf-of-parents-and-the-city-of-huntington-beach-for-forcing-schools-to-hide-a-childs-gender-transition-from-parents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a>. &ldquo;Fit parents are presumed to act in the best interest of their child. The government cannot intervene in their relationship simply because it does not like the parents&rsquo; decision.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The California law is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktvu.com\/news\/california-is-first-state-bar-school-staff-from-informing-parents-gender-changes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first<\/a> of its kind at the statewide level, as many parents grapple with whether to remain on the West Coast given the hostility toward parents who protest radical gender policy. Last year, California Republican state Sen. Scott Wilk bluntly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/ca-rep-warns-parents-gender-affirming-law-love-children-flee-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recommended<\/a>&nbsp;parents &ldquo;flee&rdquo; to keep their children.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In the past when we&rsquo;ve had these discussions and I&rsquo;ve seen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-state-senator-warns-parents-to-flee-state-after-gender-affirmation-bill-advances\/\" title=\"CA State Senator urges parents to leave state as &#039;gender-affirmation&#039; bill progresses.\">parental rights atrophy<\/a>, I&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/floridas-education-bill-is-an-attempt-to-ensure-intellectual-freedom-on-college-campuses-could-one-provision-make-the-whole-thing-backfire\/\" title=\"Florida\u2019s Education Bill Is An Attempt To Ensure Intellectual Freedom On College Campuses. Could One Provision Make The Whole Thing Backfire?\">ve encouraged people<\/a> to keep fighting,&rdquo; Wilk said. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve changed my mind on that,&rdquo; Wilk added. &ldquo;If you love your children, you need to flee California. You need to flee.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Wilk said he would likely leave the state himself once he is finished serving as a senator.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-61927a0ac18875d718a4ae667a7f12ee fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-61927a0ac18875d718a4ae667a7f12ee\"><\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;I was born and raised in this state. I love this state, but I&rsquo;m not going to stay in this state. It&rsquo;s just too oppressive and I believe in freedom and so I&rsquo;m going to move to America when I leave the legislature,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>California is one of 14 states that have now passed laws to identify as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/tim-walz-signed-bill-making-minnesota-a-sanctuary-state-for-child-sex-changes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;sanctuary states<\/a>&rdquo;&nbsp;for children who believe they have a gender identity that conflicts with their biological sex. Governors in these states have signed legislation to &ldquo;shield&rdquo; children seeking transgender medical interventions from restrictions on such procedures in their home states. Minnesota Gov.
