Thurman had taken abortion pills after learning she was pregnant with twins.<\/p>\n<p>After experiencing complications from fetal tissue still being present in her body, she died.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/georgia-abortion-ban-amber-thurman-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ProPublica reported<\/a> on Thurman on Monday as supposed proof of Georgia&rsquo;s abortion laws, passed that summer of 2022, being deadly to expectant mothers.<\/p>\n<p>After the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-jan-6-prisoner-gets-sentence-reduced-thanks-supreme-court-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Supreme Court<\/a> of the United States overturned <em>Roe v Wade<\/em> with the&nbsp;<em>Dobbs v Jackson<\/em> decision in June 2022 effectively returning the issue of abortion back to the state level, many states passed bans on abortions under varying circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>  <script> \t\t\t\tif( ! getCookie( 'ff_subbed' ) ) if( typeof FFADS.replace_ict !='undefined' ) if( FFADS.replace_ict ) eval( FFADS.replace_ict ); \t\t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/us-state-georgias-six-week-abortion-ban-blocked-by-judge-2022-11-15\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Georgia law at the time<\/a> banned abortions after six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>As ProPublica reported in their piece, Georgia also had laws criminalizing certain procedures from being performed under certain circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of Thurman, her doctors needed to perform a dilation and curettage, or D&amp;C, to clear the tissue. Doctors were unsure if the procedure was legal under Georgia law as it allowed for doctors to remove &ldquo;a dead unborn child&rdquo; that came from a &ldquo;spontaneous abortion&rdquo; in &ldquo;naturally occurring&rdquo; circumstances like stillbirth or miscarriage.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors were not sure what to do with the fetal tissue left in Thurman as her abortion was not spontaneous; it was deliberate from taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-louisiana-votes-list-abortion-pills-controlled-substance-jail-time-convicted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion pills<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thurman passed away at the hospital while a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-budget-proposal-refers-to-mothers-as-birthing-people\/\" title=\"Biden Budget Proposal Refers To Mothers As \u2018Birthing People\u2019\">maternal mortality review committee<\/a> said after the fact Thurman had a &ldquo;good chance&rdquo; of living had the D&amp;C been performed earlier.<\/p>\n<p>While ProPublica reported the story Monday stating, &ldquo;Piedmont did not have a policy to guide doctors on how to interpret the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/article-from-the-guardian-bashes-white-evangelicals-for-their-anger-over-abortion\/\" title=\"Article From The Guardian Bashes \u2018White Evangelicals\u2019 For Their \u2018Anger\u2019 Over Abortion\">state abortion ban<\/a> when Thurman arrived for care,&rdquo; Harris seized the opportunity to blast her opponent for the forthcoming November genera election, former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/police-respond-suspicious-occurrence-trump-rally-site-setting-off-frenzy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The former president is often credited with appointing the justices to SCOTUS who were pivotal in overturning <em>Roe.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A young mother from Georgia should be alive today, raising her son and pursuing her dream of attending nursing school.<\/p>\n<p>This is exactly what we feared when Roe v. As is too often the case, parts of the baby were left inside her, which caused her to suffer from fatal sepsis,&rdquo; Stuckey continued. &ldquo;Yes, she should have received a D&amp;C and antibiotics. But that is not the fault of any Georgia law, which fully permits a D&amp;C when the baby has already passed.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;She died because of the abortion pills and because of the negligence of doctors.
