The former speaker also noted that Harris is about 5 points behind where then-candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> was in polling from mid-September 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I still believe it just comes down to Pennsylvania and Georgia,&rdquo; McCarthy said on Fox News&rsquo;s <em>America&rsquo;s Newsroom<\/em>. &ldquo;There are more opportunities for President Trump to win the electoral vote than there are for Kamala Harris. She has a harder time. By doing this, McCarthy explained, Trump and Harris would both receive 269 votes in the Electoral College, leaving it up to the Republican-controlled House of Representatives to vote for the next president.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy further explained that by winning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/maine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Maine&rsquo;s<\/a> popular vote, Trump would not need Pennsylvania, Michigan, or Wisconsin to beat Harris, all three of which are hotly contested states.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>McCarthy also argued the Republican Party could cut into the Democratic Party&rsquo;s bid on early voters and that Republican voters &ldquo;need to hear&rdquo; about early voting. He encouraged voters not to wait until Election Day and instead &ldquo;bank&rdquo; their votes.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donaldjtrump.com\/events\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>no campaign events scheduled<\/a> for Maine, with his next rally set for Wednesday night in New York.
