In the end, Carl drove into the backyard to get her, so they could evacuate.<\/p>\n<p>About 100 homes within a half-mile radius had to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-hollywood-legend-evacuated-fire-historic-irish-hotel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">evacuated<\/a>, Jamie Galloway, emergency services director for Deer Park, said.<\/p>\n<p>Veronica Martinez said she was only a few blocks away when the accident happened.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;My son and I were at the AFC Urgent Care waiting to be seen when we heard a loud boom. I turned around and saw a white SUV fly up into the sky and fell on the ground in flames,&rdquo; she said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/news\/local\/2024\/09\/16\/heavy-flames-coming-from-la-porte-pipeline-road-closures-and-major-evacuations-underway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KPRC-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That&rsquo;s when we realized the pipe burst.
