But the shooting, during which a bullet grazed Trump&rsquo;s ear, eventually fell out of the news as Democrats pressured President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> to leave the presidential race.<\/p>\n<p>The second attempt has brought the threat of political violence back into the spotlight. The Secret Service stopped alleged gunman Ryan Wesley Routh on Sunday before he could fire a shot.&nbsp;However, multiple Democratic strategists told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that, if anything, Harris, who replaced Biden at the top of the Democratic presidential ticket in July, is somewhat insulated from any political fallout since she is not president.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the incident gives Harris a chance to demonstrate she can rise above the partisan vitriol. Harris said she was &ldquo;thankful&rdquo; Trump was safe following the assassination attempt and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/4-democrats-who-have-sort-of-spoken-out-against-riots\/\" title=\"4 Democrats Who Have (Sort Of ) Spoken Out Against Riots\">condemned political violence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Biden told reporters Monday that he&rsquo;d spoken to Trump and that the former president&rsquo;s Secret Service detail requires more resources due to the threats against him.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If you had to boil it down, the main thrust of Harris&rsquo;s campaign over the past month has been to convince voters she can be presidential, and this is another opportunity to do just that,&rdquo; one strategist familiar with Harris&rsquo;s campaign strategy claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, for his part, blamed Harris and Biden, who have called him a threat to democracy, for the attempt on his life. Biden briefly paused the campaign ads and personal attacks on his rival following the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3155505\/legacy-media-appear-blame-donald-trump-second-assassination-attempt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>assassination<\/a> attempt.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic operatives don&rsquo;t seem to believe that this latest attempt on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3155269\/trump-difficult-proposition-find-top-legal-talent-2024-election-challenges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Trump<\/a>&lsquo;s life will change much about the dynamics of the race or Harris&rsquo;s campaign strategy in the aftermath.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Whether we want to admit it or not, turnout was already going to be a bigger issue for Vice President Harris than Trump, and she&rsquo;s doing everything she needs to energize any remaining holdouts,&rdquo; a second Democratic operative told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t think this second shooter will give Trump a significant advantage,&rdquo; the operative added.<\/p>\n<p>Another Democratic strategist suggested that Trump would be helped less because the attacks are no longer novel and that while the country needs to lower the political temperature overall, &ldquo;Harris can handle anything this election can throw at her.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Political violence is unacceptable. Full stop,&rdquo; the strategist asserted. &ldquo;But Vice President Harris and voters across the country know that the stakes of this election are too high to let one unbalanced individual derail this historic campaign.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Harris campaign did not respond to inquiries for this story.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the Georgia Faith &amp; Freedom Coalition dinner in Atlanta on Monday, Trump&rsquo;s running mate, J.D. Vance (R-OH), vowed to do his &ldquo;part&rdquo; to tone down rhetoric surrounding the election, but he and Trump still accused Harris of fomenting violence against the former president.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I know it&rsquo;s popular on a lot of corners of the Left to say that we have a both-sides problem, and I&rsquo;m not going to say we&rsquo;re always perfect. I&rsquo;m not going to say that conservatives always get things exactly right. But you know, the big difference between conservatives and liberals is that we have &mdash; no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months, and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump in the last couple of months,&rdquo; he stated.&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;d say that&rsquo;s pretty strong evidence that the left needs to tone down the rhetoric and needs to cut this crap out.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Still, some Trump allies drew unwanted attention over their commentary following the assassination attempt.<\/p>\n<p>X owner Elon Musk reacted to Routh&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-deputy-said-he-was-shot-in-line-of-duty-he-shot-himself\/\" title=\"California Deputy Said He Was Shot In Line Of Duty.
