But Veltri was known at the FBI to be &ldquo;adamantly and vocally anti-Trump,&rdquo; according to a whistleblower account reported by The Washington Times. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The FBI has assumed the role as the lead federal law enforcement agency in the investigation,&rdquo; said Veltri, who is in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/contact-us\/field-offices\/miami\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charge<\/a> of the FBI Miami Field Office, in the press conference. &ldquo;We will continue to support this investigation with the full resources of the FBI.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Veltri <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hXi5MMoxP20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appeared<\/a> alongside Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg, and a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service to discuss the second assassination attempt against Trump, which occurred as the former president played golf Sunday afternoon in Palm Beach. <\/p>\n<p>The attempted assassin allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/15\/democrats-did-the-opposite-of-lower-the-temperature-between-trump-assassination-attempts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hid<\/a> in the bushes at Trump International Golf Club, and was aiming an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2024\/09\/15\/trump-golf-course-gunman-weapon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SKS-style rifle<\/a> through the fence when a Secret Service agent spotted and engaged the man. He fled, and the Martin County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office <a href=\"https:\/\/okcfox.com\/news\/nation-world\/deputies-release-video-of-suspect-ryan-wesley-routh-in-apparent-donald-trump-assassination-attempt-surrendering-presidential-election-nominee-ak-style-rifle-scope-west-palm-beach-golf-course-secret-service-martin-county-sheriffs-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apprehended<\/a> him shortly thereafter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Veltri assured those at the press <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hXi5MMoxP20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conference<\/a> the FBI would diligently investigate the matter.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve deployed a number of resources, including investigative teams, crisis response team members, bomb technicians, and evidence response team members,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Conflict of Interest?<\/h2>\n<p>Last year, however, a whistleblower told the House Judiciary Committee that the FBI made Veltri scrub his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2023\/nov\/20\/whistleblower-fbi-official-ordered-to-scrub-anti-t\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anti-Trump<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">social media posts<\/a> before promoting him to lead the Miami Field Office, according to The Washington Times.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It was well known that Veltri was adamantly and vocally anti-Trump,&rdquo; the whistleblower said in a disclosure, reported by the Times.<\/p>\n<p>FBI Director Christopher Wray, Deputy Director Paul Abbate, and Executive Assistant Director of Human Resources Jennifer Moore were all allegedly involved in telling Veltri to whitewash his online posts. Throughout his career, he worked in areas like anti-fraud, anti-trafficking, &ldquo;civil rights squads,&rdquo; and anti-terrorism, even doing a stint in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>He became chief of the FBI&rsquo;s civil rights unit in 2016, where he enforced &ldquo;hate crime, color-of-law, human trafficking, and Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances [FACE] Act investigations&rdquo; across America. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/103rd-congress\/senate-bill\/636#:~:text=Freedom%20of%20Access%20to%20Clinic%20Entrances%20Act%20of%201994%20%2D%20Amends,or%20has%20been%2C%20or%20in\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FACE Act<\/a> criminalized physically obstructing a person from obtaining an abortion and has become a favorite weapon of those targeting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/covid-has-killed-her-hundreds-of-thousands-but-abortion-has-killed-her-tens-of-millions\/\" title=\"COVID Has Killed Her Hundreds of Thousands, But Abortion Has Killed Her Tens of Millions\">pro-life movement<\/a>. A Detroit jury <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/21\/michigan-jury-finds-7-guilty-of-face-act-violation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">convicted<\/a> seven pro-life demonstrators &mdash; including a preacher, an evangelist, missionaries, a former police officer, and an 89-year-old concentration camp survivor &mdash; last month for allegedly violating the FACE Act, as The Federalist previously reported.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Veltri became <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jeffrey-b-veltri-96b61384\/details\/experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">special agent in charge<\/a> of the Miami Field Office in March 2023, according to LinkedIn.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Federalist reached out to an FBI representative, but the agency did not respond with comment in time for publication.<\/p>\n<h2>Weaponizing Justice<\/h2>\n<p>The FBI has a history of anti-Trump animus. During the 2016 election, the FBI recommended no charges be filed in then-Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton&rsquo;s email scandal, but <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/18\/spygate-101-a-primer-on-the-russia-collusion-hoaxs-years-long-plot-to-take-down-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">launched<\/a> the Crossfire Hurricane investigation into the Trump campaign based on shoddy intel and used it to spy on campaign staff. Even after Trump won the election, the FBI continued with Crossfire Hurricane and used it to undermine the Trump administration.<\/p>\n<p>Special Agent Peter Strzok, who was involved in investigating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton&rsquo;s emails and in Crossfire Hurricane, was revealed in 2018 to have expressed support for Clinton and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2018\/06\/14\/ig-report-slams-fbi-strzok-for-political-bias-using-personal-email\/\">hostility to Trump<\/a> in leaked texts, as The Federalist previously reported.<\/p>\n<p>Strzok was communicating with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was having an affair. The two called Trump a &ldquo;f-cking idiot,&rdquo; a &ldquo;d-uche,&rdquo; and a &ldquo;disaster.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the 2020 election, FBI officials <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/20\/what-congress-should-ask-the-fbi-agent-involved-in-censoring-hunter-biden-laptop-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pressured<\/a> Big Tech companies to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story, which contained damning implications for Joe Biden that could have tilted the election.
