<\/strong>British Prime Minister <strong>Keir Starmer<\/strong> left a late Friday meeting at the White House with the question of whether President <strong>Joe Biden<\/strong> would approve using British Storm Shadow missiles for strikes deep inside Russia unresolved.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>&ldquo;The leaders &hellip; reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine as it continues to defend against Russia&rsquo;s aggression,&rdquo; was all the White House said about the issue in its pro forma<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2024\/09\/13\/readout-of-president-joe-bidens-meeting-with-prime-minister-keir-starmer-of-the-united-kingdom-2\/\"> readout<\/a> of the meeting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Because some components of the Storm Shadow are made in the U.S., Biden has been pressuring the U.K. to follow his lead and withhold permission out of concerns that it could trigger further escalation from Russia in the two-and-a-half-year war. &ldquo;Ukraine has a right to self-defense, and we&rsquo;ve stood united,&rdquo; Starmer said before leaving for London.<\/p>\n<p>In comments before the Friday meeting, Biden insisted he wanted to make &ldquo;clear that Putin will not prevail in this war.&rdquo; When asked about Russian President <strong>Vladimir Putin&rsquo;s<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/gerashchenko_en\/status\/1834282641153294772?s=58\">  comment last week<\/a> that the use of the longer-range weapons, including the U.S. Army Tactical Missile System, known as ATACMS, would mean the U.S. and NATO were &ldquo;at war&rdquo; with Russia, Biden replied, &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t think much about Vladimir Putin.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pentagon officials have suggested the U.S. does not have sufficient inventory of ATACMS to make a difference in the war. Speaking<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/News\/Transcripts\/Transcript\/Article\/3906095\/secretary-of-defense-lloyd-j-austin-iii-holds-media-availability-maxwell-air-fo\/\"> to reporters<\/a> at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama Friday, Defense Secretary <strong>Lloyd Austin<\/strong> said there is no single weapons system that is a &ldquo;silver bullet.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;One thing doesn&rsquo;t determine the end of a conflict or the transition in that conflict,&rdquo; Austin said. &ldquo;Another thing that goes into that equation is what&rsquo;s in the inventory, how much do you have in your magazine, what kind of risk do these countries accept as their inventory gets lower and lower? And then again, are there other types of capabilities that you can employ to accomplish those objectives?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ZELENSKY: &lsquo;THERE SIMPLY CANNOT BE ANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS&rsquo;: <\/strong>In a fiery speech before the annual Yalta European Strategy conference Friday, Zelensky lashed out at the intransigence of the U.S. without mentioning Biden by name.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Anyone who simply sees on a map where Russia strikes from on a daily basis, where Russia trains its forces and keeps reserves, where it locates military facilities and what logistics it uses &ndash; anyone who sees all this, clearly understands why Ukraine needs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-secretly-performs-test-of-scramjet-powered-hypersonic-missile\/\" title=\"U.S. Secretly Performs Test of Scramjet-Powered Hypersonic Missile\">long-range capability<\/a>,&rdquo; Zelensky said. &ldquo;We discussed this in detail with <strong>Antony Blinken<\/strong> and <strong>David Lammy<\/strong>, the U.S. secretary of state and the British foreign secretary, who were recently in Kyiv &hellip; There simply cannot be any unanswered questions about why Ukraine needs sufficient long-range capability.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Everyone knows where Russian missile launchers are being deployed, and what logistics routes are critical for the Russian occupation forces. All of this can be destroyed in a matter of months,&rdquo; Zelensky said. &ldquo;So, what is lacking to bring it to an end? Strength? Decisions? Or the will to do so?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky also railed about the refusal of NATO countries to shoot down Russian missiles that are killing dozens of civilians daily and destroying Ukraine&rsquo;s energy infrastructure ahead of winter. &ldquo;If the allies are jointly shooting down missiles and drones in the skies over the Middle East, why is there still no similar decision to jointly shoot down Russian missiles and Iranian Shaheds over Ukraine?&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;When we raise this issue with our partners, which we do constantly, to be honest, everyone tries to talk around it.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky noted only Belarus, a non-NATO country aligned with Russia, is actually shooting down Iranian-made drones. &ldquo;&#8203;&#8203;I think this is truly humiliating for the strong democratic world.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ukraine-russia-war-nato-military-chiefs-d020f72aaa3abec8e5fa971f7123ffe1\"><strong>NATO MILITARY COMMITTEE CHAIR BACKS UKRAINE&rsquo;S USE OF LONG RANGE WEAPONS TO HIT RUSSIA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ukraine-russia-war-nato-military-chiefs-d020f72aaa3abec8e5fa971f7123ffe1\"><strong>NATO MILITARY COMMITTEE CHAIR BACKS UKRAINE&rsquo;S USE OF LONG RANGE WEAPONS TO HIT RUSSIA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>&lsquo;CAN WE PLEASE JUST MAKE THE INEVITABLE DECISION?&rsquo; <\/strong>Zelensky is not the only one growing more frustrated with the now-familiar pattern of repeatedly saying &ldquo;no&rdquo; to Ukraine, only to eventually relent after months of handwringing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the U.K., five former defense secretaries and former Prime Minister <strong>Boris Johnson<\/strong> are urging Keir Starmer to approve the use of Storm Shadow missiles even if the Biden administration remains opposed, according to a<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/grantshapps\/status\/1835339400311439571\"> report<\/a> in the <em>Times of London<\/em>. If not for the actions of a sharp-eyed Secret Service agent, former President <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> might well have been shot by a sniper hidden in the bushes of one of his Florida golf courses.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Secret Service agent that was on the course did a fantastic job,&rdquo; said Bradshaw. &ldquo;What they do is they have an agent that jumps one hole ahead of time to where the President was at. And he was able to spot this rifle barrel sticking out of the fence and immediately engage that individual, at which time the individual took off.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In the bushes where this guy was is an AK-47 style rifle with a scope, two backpacks which were hung on the fence that had a ceramic tile in them,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;And there&rsquo;s also a GoPro on the fence there where he was intent on filming what was going on.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The suspect, 58-year-old <strong>Ryan Wesley Routh<\/strong>, was arrested after a quick-thinking witness saw him run out of the bushes and jump into a black Nissan and managed to get a picture of the license tag. The car was pulled over by a Martin County Sheriff&rsquo;s officer on I-95, and Routh surrendered without incident.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;My resolve is only stronger after another attempt on my life!&rdquo; Trump said in a campaign message to his supporters. &ldquo;I will never slow down. I will never give up. I WILL NEVER SURRENDER!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3155081\/second-trump-assassination-attempt-security-protection-concerns\/\"><strong>SECOND TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT RAISES ALARMS ABOUT HIS LEVEL OF SECURITY<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>ROUTH&rsquo;S UKRAINE CONNECTION:<\/strong> The suspect has a criminal history, including barricading himself inside a building with a machine gun in 2002, and for years was on a quixotic quest to join the war in Ukraine while presenting himself as a recruiter who wanted to help find volunteers for the war effort.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Routh frequently posted on social media about the war in Ukraine and had a website where he sought to raise money and recruit volunteers to go to Kyiv to join the fight against the Russian invasion,&rdquo; the <em>Associated Press<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-assassination-attempt-what-to-know-564c56e167c3cdc6c50f6a2e91db9a6c\">reported<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Routh was interviewed by the <em>New York Times<\/em> in 2023 for an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/03\/25\/world\/europe\/volunteers-us-ukraine-lies.html\"> article<\/a> about Americans volunteering to aid the war effort in Ukraine. He said at the time that he had spent several months in Ukraine in 2022 and was hoping to recruit Afghan soldiers who fled the Taliban.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3155052\/trumps-second-assassination-attempt-what-we-know\/\"><strong>WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT TRUMP&rsquo;S SECOND ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>ISIS LEADERS CONFIRMED KILLED: <\/strong>The U.S. Central Command says it has confirmed that four ISIS leaders were killed in a combined U.S. and Iraqi security forces raid on Aug. 29.<\/p>\n<p>The operation in western Iraq was previously reported to have killed 14 ISIS operatives, but in a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.centcom.mil\/MEDIA\/PRESS-RELEASES\/Press-Release-View\/Article\/3906113\/centcom-confirms-isis-leaders-killed-in-raid-partnered-with-iraqi-security-forc\/\"> Friday update<\/a>, CENTCOM said four of the dead were senior ISIS commanders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The four were identified as <strong>Ahmad Hamid Husayn Abd-al-Jalil al-Ithawi<\/strong>, said to be responsible for all operations in Iraq, <strong>Abu Hammam<\/strong>, responsible for overseeing all operations in Western Iraq, <strong>Abu-Ali al-Tunisi<\/strong>, responsible for overseeing technical development, and <strong>Shakir Abud Ahmad al-Issawi,<\/strong> responsible for overseeing military operations in Western Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;CENTCOM remains committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS, who continues to threaten the United States, our allies and partners, and regional stability,&rdquo; said <strong>Gen.
