Nina Turner, CNN contributor Scott Jennings and other members of the six-person panel instantly shot down Phillip&rsquo;s attempt to gaslight viewers about Vice President Kamala Harris&rsquo;s record on fracking.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the panelists&rsquo; negative and seemingly unanimous reaction came with such swiftness and volume that it was difficult to tell who yelled, &ldquo;That&rsquo;s not true!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Phillip&rsquo;s gaslighting comment came in the context of a discussion about who won Tuesday&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/time-magazine-forced-issue-embarrassing-correction-calling-one-trumps-debate-claims-false\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presidential debate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>  <script> \t\t\t\tif( ! getCookie( 'ff_subbed' ) ) if( typeof FFADS.replace_ict !='undefined' ) if( FFADS.replace_ict ) eval( FFADS.replace_ict ); \t\t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sandersinstitute.org\/fellows\/the-honorable-nina-turner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Turner<\/a>, who twice supported the presidential campaigns of socialist independent Sen. We&rsquo;re gonna do away with it,&#8217;&rdquo; Turner said in a clip posted to the social media platform X.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;You can&rsquo;t say you&rsquo;re gonna do away with it. They had her dead to right on that. What you can say, as a candidate, that &lsquo;I&rsquo;m not in 2019. I&rsquo;m not in 2020, and you know what? I changed my mind,&#8217;&rdquo; the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ron-desantis-picks-up-15-endorsements-in-south-carolina-during-campaign-stop\/\" title=\"Ron DeSantis gains 15 endorsements in South Carolina on campaign visit.\">state senator added<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That prompted Phillip to come to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/white-house-photographers-slam-kamala-harris-campaign-unprecedented-media-clampdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harris&rsquo;s<\/a> aid.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;She reversed herself in 2020,&rdquo; the host said.<\/p>\n<p>All at once, a cacophony of voices objected.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That&rsquo;s not true!&rdquo; a male voice replied. &ldquo;That&rsquo;s a lie.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No, she didn&rsquo;t, Abby. But the clip came from a July 2024 campaign ad in support of Dave McCormick, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Harris, in other words, has largely tried to avoid the fracking question because she knows that the issue looms large in the projected swing state of Pennsylvania, which boasted the 5th-most fracking wells in the nation as of 2020, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc27.com\/pennsylvania\/12-states-where-fracking-is-most-prevalent-where-does-pa-stand\/#:~:text=1.,Texas&amp;text=Texas%20is%20situated%20over%20parts,gas%20anywhere%20in%20the%20U.S.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WHTM-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania voters, therefore, might want to know where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kamala-harris-slammed-truly-sick-insult-9-11-families-eve-attack-anniversary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harris<\/a> stands on the issue now and why.<\/p>\n<p>True to her establishment instincts, Phillip tried to defend the vice president. We have come to expect that from CNN.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, however, in recent weeks that network has also shown a willingness to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-anchor-dumbfounded-colleague-lists-kamala-harris-radical-positions-actually-said-supports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expose Harris&rsquo;s past radicalism<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kamala-terrified-press-conferences-harris-spokesman-refuses-commit-cnn-host-presses-live-air\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">challenge<\/a> the vice president&rsquo;s campaign on its reluctance to engage with the press.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, it was good to see panelists correct the host so quickly. On Wednesday&#8217;s episode of CNN\u2019s \u201cNews Night with Abby Phillip,\u201d former Ohio state Senator Nina Turner, CNN contributor Scott Jennings, and other panelists quickly refuted Phillip\u2019s attempt to mislead viewers regarding Harris&#8217;s stance on fracking. The panelists reacted so swiftly and unanimously that it was hard to identify who exclaimed, \u201cThat\u2019s not true!\u201d Phillip made her misleading comment during a discussion about the previous day&#8217;s presidential debate.<\/p>\n<p>Turner, who has supported Bernie Sanders in his presidential campaigns, claimed that while Harris won the debate, moderators were tougher on former President Donald Trump by not following up on questions that could have highlighted inconsistencies in Harris&#8217;s policies. In one such ad from July 2024 supporting Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick from Pennsylvania\u2014where fracking is a major issue\u2014Harris stated unequivocally her support for banning fracking back in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Given Pennsylvania&#8217;s prominence as a swing state with many fracking wells as of 2020 (ranking fifth nationally), voters there may want clarity on where Harris currently stands regarding this issue. While Phillip attempted to defend the vice president\u2014a typical move for CNN\u2014the network has also recently shown an inclination towards scrutinizing Harris&#8217;s past radical views and challenging her campaign&#8217;s hesitance toward press engagement.
