Grassley highlighted that\u200b while \u2064the FBI initially\u200c accepted the findings from a 2021 Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Inspector General (OIG) \u200dreport, a subsequent audit revealed \u200cthat the FBI failed to implement many of the promised reforms and even \u2062misrepresented its progress to Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Grassley\u2019s letter pointed out that the\u200c FBI committed\u200c to addressing 83% of flagged cases but\u2063 has not \u2062delivered meaningful responses as required. The senator criticized the agency for\u200c focusing more on political investigations rather than effectively addressing child sex crimes,\u2063 citing a pattern of misconduct over the years. This situation has \u200dcontributed to significant \u2064settlements\u2062 awarded to Nassar\u2019s victims, as well as ongoing concerns regarding the FBI&#8217;s priorities and resource allocation. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray outlining the bureau&rsquo;s failure to comply with proposed changes in protocol prompted by the Justice Department&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/flashback-former-ag-barr-initiated-spying-program-on-americans-back-in-1992\/\" title=\"FLASHBACK: Former AG Barr Initiated Spying Program on Americans Back in 1992\">inspector general<\/a>. The initial investigation from the agency watchdog was provoked by a report from the DOJ three years ago revealing the FBI did <a href=\"https:\/\/thefdrlst.wpengine.com\/2021\/07\/17\/the-fbi-turned-a-blind-eye-while-larry-nassar-assaulted-hundreds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nothing<\/a> to stop USA Gymnastics physician Larry Nassar from sexually assaulting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-42894833\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hundreds<\/a> of women in his supposed care.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e62e2dfeff67a65e21bd9e8e626ea000 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e62e2dfeff67a65e21bd9e8e626ea000\"><\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;In 2021, the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General (OIG) conducted a detailed review of FBI misconduct during the Nassar investigation,&rdquo; Grassley wrote Monday. &ldquo;The FBI accepted all of the review&rsquo;s findings and promised significant reforms.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>A later audit by the DOJ inspector general released last month, however, &ldquo;revealed the FBI not only failed to implement a host of promised changes responsive to the OIG Nassar Review, but also overstated its reforms to Congress of the OIG on at least three occasions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<em>Ultimately<\/em>, the FBI promised swift action in 83% of the 42 cases the OIG flagged in the 2024 Audit as requiring an immediate response, and again failed to deliver,&rdquo; Grassley wrote. &ldquo;The 2024 Audit is littered with examples of <em>no action<\/em> <strong>and <\/strong><em>delayed action<\/em>,&rdquo; the senator added, (emphasis his).<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 of Nassar&rsquo;s victims were awarded a $138.7 million dollar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/life\/a27357492\/larry-nassar-prison-sentence-usa-gymnastics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">settlement<\/a> from the FBI because of the government&rsquo;s failure to properly handle allegations of misconduct made in 2015 and 2016. In 2018, Nassar was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison for charges of child pornography, along with an additional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/story\/news\/local\/2023\/07\/11\/larry-nassar-ex-gymnastics-doctor-convicted-sexual-abuse-stabbed-in-prison-what-we-know\/70400955007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">40 to 175 years<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/anti-sex-trafficking-advocates-slam-twitter-on-heels-of-bombshell-lawsuit-from-teen-victim\/\" title=\"Anti-Sex Trafficking Advocates Slam Twitter On Heels Of Bombshell Lawsuit From Teen Victim\">child sex abuse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6a54c0ae934b392874bf02eb46d8d2cf fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6a54c0ae934b392874bf02eb46d8d2cf\"><\/div>\n<p>The FBI&rsquo;s turning a blind eye to Nassar&rsquo;s sexual exploits follows an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/19\/think-the-fbi-deserves-the-benefit-of-the-doubt-this-laundry-list-of-corruption-should-make-you-think-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endless list<\/a> of agency failures as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-judge-grants-gop-lawmaker-standing-to-sue-biden-administration-over-unrwa-funding-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Texas judge grants GOP lawmaker standing to sue Biden administration over UNRWA funding - Washington Examiner\">federal government&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s premier law enforcement unit redirects resources to crack down on political dissidents. While Nassar&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-to-show-lockdowns-are-killing-more-people-than-the-virus\/\" title=\"How To Show Lockdowns Are Killing More People Than The Virus\">child abuse<\/a> went uninvestigated, the FBI was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/14\/19-times-democrats-and-doj-deliberately-politicized-law-enforcement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">weaponized<\/a> to prosecute former President Donald Trump as a covert Russian operative. The Department of Justice would then go on to investigate traditional Catholics as domestic terrorists, prosecute online meme creators, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/16\/j6-praying-grandma-slammed-with-six-figure-fine-and-probation-for-walking-around-capitol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fine<\/a> peaceful protestors, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/01\/30\/dad-of-11-convicted-for-praying-at-abortion-facility-alongside-5-other-pro-lifers-targeted-by-doj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">jail<\/a> pro-life demonstrators, and raid Trump&rsquo;s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the FBI&rsquo;s decades of misconduct, lawmakers from both parties on Capitol Hill recently voted to award the bureau $<a href=\"https:\/\/federalnewsnetwork.com\/facilities-construction\/2024\/04\/new-fbi-headquarters-will-take-more-than-a-decade-to-build-as-agency-struggles-with-obsolete-space\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">200<\/a> million for a new headquarters. The General Services Administration (GSA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsa.gov\/about-us\/newsroom\/news-releases\/gsa-selects-greenbelt-maryland-for-new-fbi-headquarters-campus-location-11092023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">selected<\/a> a 61-acre plot in Maryland as the destination for the new site.<\/p>\n<p>Read Sen.
