She&rsquo;ll fight to ensure that no former president has immunity for crimes committed while in the White House,&rdquo; the issues page states.<\/p>\n<p>Harris then smears former President Donald Trump by calling him a threat to &ldquo;our fundamental rights and freedoms.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Someone as dangerous as Donald Trump should never again be allowed to serve as commander-in-chief,&rdquo; the issues page states.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s the same type of incendiary language used by Harris and others to, as I <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/14\/the-left-spent-years-running-an-assassination-prep-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously wrote<\/a>, desensitize Americans to the possibility of an assassination attempt. The Federalist CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/seanmdav\/status\/1732931279421579321\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sean Davis<\/a> explained this type of rhetoric is &ldquo;meant to justify and even incite the most extreme measures, up to and including unconscionable violence.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7fe0635dfa454468caf9b8d94907d5b1 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7fe0635dfa454468caf9b8d94907d5b1\"><\/div>\n<p>The issues page says Harris will also support an overhaul of the Supreme Court by supporting term limits for justices and a set of  binding ethics rules just weeks after the high court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/01\/scotus-immunity-ruling-further-delays-trump-trial-in-jack-smiths-d-c-lawfare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">torpedoed<\/a> one of the Biden-Harris administration&rsquo;s numerous lawfare efforts to throw former President Donald Trump in jail ahead of the election.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that presidents have &ldquo;absolute immunity&rdquo; for &ldquo;actions within his conclusive and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-rejects-trumps-motion-to-dismiss-jan-6-case-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Judge rejects Trump\u2019s motion to dismiss Jan. 6 case - Washington Examiner\">preclusive constitutional authority&#038;rdquo<\/a>; and &ldquo;at least presumptive immunity&rdquo; for all &ldquo;official acts.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There is no immunity for unofficial acts,&rdquo; the court clarified. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden-Harris Department of Justice&rsquo;s special counsel, Jack Smith, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/25\/alito-criminalizing-close-election-contests-would-destabilize-entire-foundation-of-american-democracy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">indicted<\/a> Trump for questioning the administration of the 2020 election. Smith alleged, in part, that Trump wanted to use the Justice Department to send letters to select states inquiring about potential voter fraud. The Supreme Court ruled Trump &ldquo;is absolutely immune from prosecution for the alleged conduct involving his discussions with Justice Department officials.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d3ff87fc83f861c366658a54fe3750f5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d3ff87fc83f861c366658a54fe3750f5\"><\/div>\n<p>Questions related to conversations Trump and then-Vice President Mike Pence had, the preparation of contingent electors, and Trump&rsquo;s public statements on Jan. 6 were sent back to the lower courts to determine whether they qualify as &ldquo;official&rdquo; or &ldquo;unofficial&rdquo; acts. <\/p>\n<p>Smith has since <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/28\/jack-smith-indicts-trump-for-exercising-first-amendment-right-to-question-election-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed<\/a> a superseding indictment striking nine pages worth of allegations that underpin the charges against Trump in light of the Supreme Court&rsquo;s ruling. The new indictment alleges, in part, that Trump&rsquo;s right to question the outcome of an election created &ldquo;mistrust and anger.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/05\/chutkan-laughs-off-supreme-court-immunity-ruling-in-d-c-trump-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Supreme Court<\/a> also effectively shot down two of the four charges against Trump in its <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/23pdf\/23-5572_l6hn.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fischer v. United States<\/a><\/em>  ruling that found the Biden-Harris Justice Department wrongly applied federal statute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/1512\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">18 U.S. Code &sect; 1512(c)<\/a>&nbsp;to prosecute demonstrators present at the Capitol on Jan. 6. Smith <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/28\/scotus-shoots-down-dojs-use-of-obstruction-statute-to-target-j6-prisoners-but-trump-isnt-in-the-clear-yet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">indicated<\/a>, however, that he would still try to secure a conviction against Trump under the statute. <\/p>\n<p>Yet it&rsquo;s Harris who alleges Trump would &ldquo;bring the Department of Justice and the FBI under his direct control so he can give himself unchecked legal power and go after his opponents &hellip;&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/05\/how-each-lawfare-jihad-against-trump-might-crumble-under-scotus-immunity-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawfare efforts<\/a> to jail Trump hit <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/15\/judge-in-docs-case-throws-out-dojs-lawfare-against-trump-rules-jack-smiths-appointment-unconstitutional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">another roadblock<\/a> when Judge Aileen Cannon ruled that the Biden-Harris Justice Department unconstitutionally appointed Smith to prosecute Trump for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-launches-2024-presidential-bid\/\" title=\"Trump Launches 2024 Presidential Bid\">allegedly mishandling classified documents<\/a>. President Joe Biden also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnns-smerconish-trump-suffering-death-by-a-thousand-cuts-legally-speaking\/\" title=\"CNN&#039;s Smerconish: Trump Suffering &#039;Death by a Thousand Cuts, Legally Speaking&#039;\">mishandled classified documents<\/a> but was notably not charged.
