Cruz, who⁢ has represented Texas in the Senate⁤ since 2013, has recently secured the⁤ endorsement of ⁣the ⁢U.S. Chamber of Commerce for‍ his reelection campaign. This endorsement ‌is ⁣significant, ⁢especially because the Chamber had previously backed Allred in his congressional races.

The endorsement emphasizes Cruz’s pro-business policies, including ⁤support for job creation, tax⁣ cuts, and economic growth initiatives. Neil Bradley, ‍Executive Vice President ⁤of the Chamber, highlighted Cruz’s proven track record in promoting policies ⁣that aid Texas businesses and individuals. The Chamber’s decision to support Cruz over Allred was framed as focusing on the unique‍ challenges of the ⁤Senate race and ⁢Cruz’s ‍solid reputation in advocating for business interests.

Allred’s candidacy represents a challenge to Cruz, as he aims to capitalize on public discontent regarding issues like crime and border security, suggesting that these aspects⁤ were‌ exacerbated‍ under the current administration. As ‍the campaign ⁣unfolds, the dynamics between⁣ the candidates‍ will likely focus on contrasting visions for Texas and the nation, particularly concerning economic policy and governance.

US Chamber of Commerce endorses Cruz over rival, whom it endorsed twice previously

(The Center Square) – U.S. Sen. We evaluate candidates based on whether we think they are the best candidate in the race to support job creators, entrepreneurs and a growing economy. Of course, every race is different. We have 435 congressional races. We endorsed Mr. Allred in two of those reelection races but we only have 100 Senate races.”

The Texas Senate race, he said, “is a very different race … and a choice that for us, is pretty clear cut and simple. Sen. Cruz has a proven track record when it comes to supporting job creators, when it comes to delivering on business issues, when it comes to having an open door to hear about the concerns of local small businesses. And then he gets results. So we’re confident that he’s going to carry that forward another six years.”

The chamber endorsed federal candidates “who will stand up for free enterprise, including by vigorously advocating for public policy solutions that will spur economic growth, support jobs, and promote businesses of all sizes’ ability to continue to innovate and invest in America,” it said in a separate statement.

Endorsing Cruz and others who support economic growth is important, the chamber argues, “to avoid the largest tax increase in American history,” when the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which Cruz voted for, is expected to expire at the end of 2025 unless Congress acts.

Allred has said that if he were in Congress at the time, he would have voted against the bill just as Vice President Kamala Harris did when she was in the U.S. Senate. Cruz argues Harris and Allred policies would be disastrous for America, worsen the economy and kill jobs.

In a recent report, the chamber highlights how pro-economic growth tax policy increases wages and improves the economy. “Tax policy should be designed to minimize the negative impact on economic growth,” it says. “Pro-growth tax policy doesn’t just grow the overall U.S. economy; it raises wages for American workers and improves standards of living. The Chamber’s backing comes alongside endorsements from various other groups and key Democrats who favor Cruz over Allred due to concerns about rising crime and the border crisis attributed to the Biden-Harris administration. Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President of the Chamber, emphasized Cruz’s pro-business policies and dedication to job creation during an event in Houston where he met with business leaders. He praised Cruz as a strong advocate for growth-oriented policies that benefit Texas businesses and families.

When asked about the shift from endorsing Allred to supporting Cruz, Bradley explained that their organization is nonpartisan and evaluates candidates based on their ability to support job creators and foster economic growth. He noted that each election is unique; while they had previously endorsed Allred in two congressional races, they view this Senate race as distinctly different with a clear preference for Cruz due to his proven record on business issues.

The Chamber also highlighted its commitment to endorsing candidates who champion free enterprise and advocate for policies that stimulate economic growth while protecting jobs across all sectors.
