Since<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">&nbsp;then, however, Trump&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/01\/05\/january-6-anniversary-trump-republican-party\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has won back&nbsp;<\/a>nearly <\/span>all of his party&rsquo;s elected officials.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The former president has managed to gain the support of some of his harshest critics, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nikki-haley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Nikki Haley<\/a>, former United Nations ambassador and presidential candidate, Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ted-cruz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Ted Cruz<\/a> (R-TX), and even his running mate, Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/j.d.-vance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>J.D. Vance<\/a> (R-OH).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;How many more times do we have to lose before we realize that he is the problem,&rdquo; Haley said in February of Trump, which she followed with other critiques. <\/p>\n<p>However, Haley later endorsed the former president at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/rnc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Republican National Convention<\/a>, saying, &ldquo;I&rsquo;ll start by making one thing perfectly clear: Donald Trump has my strong endorsement, period.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH) supported Haley in the 2024 Republican primary and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/01\/21\/new-hampshire-governor-primary-nikki-haley-sununu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>called<\/a> Trump &ldquo;a disaster for this party,&rdquo; but he has since come around to him.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Nobody should be shocked that the Republican governor is supporting the Republican president,&rdquo; Sununu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/chris-sununu-tries-and-fails-to-defend-his-trump-support-flipflop-in-abc-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> in April. &ldquo;For me, it&rsquo;s not about him as much as it is having a Republican administration.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>However, there are some remaining holdouts who have chosen silence over endorsements, including the entirety of the 2012 Republican ticket: Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/mitt-romney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Mitt Romney<\/a> (R-UT) and his once-running mate, former House Speaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/paul-ryan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Paul Ryan<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Ryan has been retired from politics for a long time, and Romney announced his retirement this year. Former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/george-w-bush\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>George W. Bush<\/a> and former vice presidents Mike Pence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/dick-cheney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Dick Cheney<\/a>, and Dan Quayle also have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3134730\/trump-campaign-harris-endorsement-bush-mccain-romney-alums\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>not endorsed Trump<\/a> and have not commented on the modern-day Republican Party after leaving the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/campaign-2024-an-early-look-at-the-possible-republican-contenders\/\" title=\"Campaign 2024: An Early Look At The Possible Republican Contenders\">executive branch<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This election cycle, three Republicans on the ballot who have been critical of Trump have yet to come around to the former president.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Remaining &ldquo;Impeachment 10&rdquo; Members<\/h2>\n<p>In 2021, ten House Republicans voted to impeach Trump after the House charged him with &ldquo;incitement of insurrection&rdquo; over the Jan. 6 attack. Of the so-called &ldquo;Impeachment 10,&rdquo; just two remain in office: Reps. <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/david-valadao\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>David Valadao<\/a> (R-CA) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/dan-newhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Dan Newhouse<\/a> (R-WA).<\/p>\n<p>Newhouse recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/3112871\/dan-newhouse-primary-two-trump-endorsed-candidates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>came second in his primary<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2965301\/trump-wields-endorsement-to-try-and-remove-one-of-two-pro-impeachment-republicans-left-in-the-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Trump-backed challenger<\/a> Jerrod Sessler, a Navy veteran and former NASCAR driver. Newhouse, however, will still appear on the ballot because of Washington, D.C.&rsquo;s, ranked-choice primary voting system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He is running for a sixth term in Washington&rsquo;s 4th Congressional District. During the primary, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/08\/06\/washington-primary-election-donald-trump-dan-newhouse-00172731\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>called him<\/a> &ldquo;weak and pathetic RINO, Dan Newhouse, who stupidly voted to impeach me for absolutely no reason.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump also tried to oust Newhouse in 2022 but failed to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Valadao has also stayed quiet about Trump. His California district is somewhat Democratic-leaning. It&rsquo;s a district President Joe Biden would have won in 2020 had the current congressional boundaries been in place.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The California Republican did not attend a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ny-gov-cuomo-shunned-experts-embraced-lobbyists-drove-top-health-officials-to-quit-over-pandemic-response-report\/\" title=\"NY Gov. Cuomo Shunned Experts, Embraced Lobbyists, Drove Top Health Officials To Quit Over Pandemic Response: Report\">closed-door meeting<\/a> with the former president on Capitol Hill earlier this summer.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I never loved him,&rdquo; Trump said of Valadao, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/13\/politics\/trump-closed-door-meeting-house-gop\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according<\/a> to a GOP member who was present at the meeting. <\/p>\n<p>Trump also claimed at the meeting that he saved Valadao from being ousted by a challenger by not endorsing one.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2024\/06\/13\/congress\/trumps-peace-offering-00163165\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reportedly<\/a> extended an olive branch to those who voted to impeach him but were not present at the meeting, which seemingly only applied to Valadao as he was the only one who fit those criteria.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He referenced that there was one person left in the room that had voted for impeachment and that he is staying, and that&rsquo;s good. We need a bigger Republican majority,&rdquo; said Rep. French Hill (R-AR), who said the former president&rsquo;s comments were &ldquo;forward thinking&rdquo; and &ldquo;about winning the election.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to 17 News Bakersfield, Valadao <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kget.com\/news\/politics\/trump-calls-out-congressman-david-valadao-running-for-reelection-for-voting-to-impeach-him-in-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>responded to Trump&rsquo;s comments<\/a>, saying, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m focused on doing my job and getting results for the Central Valley. I&rsquo;m willing to work with anyone to get things done for our community, and that will be the same no matter who is in the White House next year.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The other eight House members of the &ldquo;Impeachment 10&rdquo; either retired or were ousted from their seats by Trump-backed challengers during the 2022 midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> reached out to Newhouse and Valadao for comment.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Former Gov. Larry Hogan<\/h2>\n<p>As Maryland&rsquo;s former Republican governor, now running for Senate in deep-blue Maryland, Larry Hogan has tried to distance himself from Trump and the majority of the MAGA Republican Party. He did not attend the RNC in Milwaukee earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Trump did endorse Hogan despite some Republicans harshly criticizing him. Hogan said the endorsement was not sought after.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t seek it, I didn&rsquo;t want to have it, and I have no interest in it,&rdquo; Hogan said. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s not something we&rsquo;re going to be promoting, that&rsquo;s for sure.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Some Republicans close to Trump pounced on Hogan for his comments on Trump&rsquo;s criminal New York hush money trial. Hogan called for voters to respect the jury&rsquo;s verdict in Trump&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-big-problem-with-the-stormy-daniels-hush-money-case-against-trump\/\" title=\"The Big Problem With The Stormy Daniels Hush Money Case Against Trump\">hush money case<\/a>, which ended in a felony conviction. In return, Trump&rsquo;s co-campaign manager, Chris LaCivita, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LaCivitaC\/status\/1796299965863747724\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>replied<\/a> on X, saying, &ldquo;You just ended your campaign.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You just ended your campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LJDuQ4oj0A\">https:\/\/t.co\/LJDuQ4oj0A<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chris LaCivita (@LaCivitaC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LaCivitaC\/status\/1796299965863747724?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 30, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/cdn-cgi\/scripts\/5c5dd728\/cloudflare-static\/email-decode.min.js\"><\/script><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;[Hogan] doesn&rsquo;t deserve the respect of anyone in the Republican Party at this point, and, quite frankly, anybody in America,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/06\/02\/lara-trump-rnc-hogan-trial-00161169\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> Lara Trump, RNC co-chairwoman, on CNN.<\/p>\n<p>Trump distanced himself from his Republican operatives and endorsed Hogan on Fox News, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/aishahhasnie\/status\/1801347715965632662?s=46&amp;t=ghs6jNpp28YDRkrjk-7G9g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>saying,<\/a> &ldquo;I&rsquo;d like to see him win. I think he has a good chance to win &hellip; I know other people made some strong statements, but I can just say from my standpoint, I&rsquo;m about the party, and I&rsquo;m about the country. And I would like to see him win.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Hogan represents a unique opportunity to help Republicans regain control of the Senate.
