The exhibit, which was part of the U.N.&#8217;s observance of the International Day of \u200bRemembrance and Tribute to Victims of Terrorism on August \u206321, notably omitted any reference to Israeli casualties. In a letter addressed to U.N. Secretary-General Antonio \u2063Guterres, the lawmakers stated that the absence of recognition for these victims \u201cundermines the U.N.\u2019s credibility on terrorism and human rights\u201d and called for an immediate\u200d explanation or an apology for this oversight. The attack on October 7 resulted in around\u2063 1,200 deaths, with approximately 250 individuals kidnapped. It did not include any Israeli victims, including those killed or wounded in the Oct. 7 attack.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This clear and conspicuous omission of Israeli victims of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/flashback-former-ag-barr-initiated-spying-program-on-americans-back-in-1992\/\" title=\"FLASHBACK: Former AG Barr Initiated Spying Program on Americans Back in 1992\">terrorist attacks<\/a>, including the horrific Oct. 7 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hamas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hamas<\/a> terrorist attack, is an insult to these innocent victims and seriously undermines the UN&rsquo;s credibility on terrorism and human rights,&rdquo; the lawmakers <a href=\"https:\/\/jewishinsider.com\/2024\/08\/jewish-house-democrats-israeli-terrorism-victims-oct-7-u-n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> in a letter to Guterres. <\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers &ldquo;respectfully demand[ed] an immediate explanation for this mission of Israeli and Jewish victims from the UN\/s exhibition for victims of terrorism, and absent a legitimate justification a clear and unequivocal apology.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Roughly 1,200 people were killed in the Oct. 7 attack, and about 250 others were kidnapped and brought back to Gaza. More than 100 hostages continue to be held there.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Kathy Manning (D-NC) led the letter, which was co-signed by Reps. Lois Frankel (D-FL), Dan Goldman (D-NY), Susan Wild (D-PA), Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Brad Sherman (D-CA), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), Dean Phillips (D-MN), Brad Schneider (D-IL), Adam Schiff (D-CA),&nbsp;Jake Auchincloss (D-MA), and Steve Cohen (D-TN).<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit was on display in the visitor&rsquo;s lobby of the U.N. Secretariat Building and featured &ldquo;life-sized images of victims and survivors of terrorism and showcases how objects meaningful to the victims have strengthened their resiliency and supported their recovery,&rdquo; according to Mauro Miedico, the director of the U.N. Counter-Terrorism Center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Israeli Ambassador to the U.N.
