Trump, ‌during a rally in Michigan,⁣ expressed a desire to encourage more births in the‍ United States, promising financial relief for new parents, but this initiative raises⁢ ethical concerns about the routine destruction ⁤of⁣ embryos ⁤that often accompanies IVF procedures. Many of them have taken soft or even sympathetic positions on reproductive technology. Yet, a significant number of the movement’s biggest political champions are endorsing a procedure that no doubt kills more life than it creates. That’s a problem that would have been better remedied by prevention than intervention.

Now, committed pro-lifers are fighting an uphill battle against some of their biggest allies to explain to voters duped by Democrats’ deceptive narrative-setting and corporate media’s twisted polls why promoting and subsidizing IVF is wholly incompatible with protecting unborn babies or successfully curbing the industries that profit from the destruction of life.

Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and producer of The Federalist Radio Hour. His claim that “all costs” linked to this procedure, which has resulted in over a million abandoned embryos, will be funded by either government or insurance mandates only strengthens Democratic efforts to associate assisted reproductive technology (ART) with their extreme abortion agenda. During a rally in Michigan, Trump stated, “We want more babies,” and promised tax deductions for new parents on significant newborn expenses.

While Trump’s desire for Americans to have children and build families is commendable—especially given declining fertility rates—the means he proposes raise concerns. It remains unclear what specific qualifications or limitations would accompany his broad support for IVF funding. His focus on covering “all costs” implies that anyone could access the procedure, including individuals with questionable backgrounds or those using donated sperm and eggs.

In the U.S., fertility specialists conduct hundreds of thousands of IVF cycles annually, resulting in numerous embryos being created; however, approximately 93% to 97% of these embryos do not survive due to premature disposal or freezing abandonment. Many people believe life begins at conception, equating fertilized eggs with persons who possess rights similar to those of pregnant women.

Mandating Americans—many of whom hold moral objections against IVF—to finance the actions of a lucrative fertility industry is problematic rather than beneficial. This approach mirrors issues seen during former President Barack Obama’s contraceptive mandate but introduces even more complications.

Trump’s assertion that IVF is “expensive” overlooks how supporting an industry focused on profit can lead to unethical practices such as prioritizing adult desires over children’s rights and commodifying human existence. Additionally, his plan may empower Democrats who link their radical abortion initiatives with IVF discussions.

The pro-life movement has long struggled with addressing ART effectively; recent reaffirmations by courts regarding life’s sanctity highlight this gap. Meanwhile, Democrats exploit inconsistencies within the pro-life movement concerning IVF policies for political gain.

It is crucial for pro-lifers not only to advocate against procedures like IVF that result in more lost lives than saved but also effectively communicate why promoting such practices contradicts their mission of safeguarding unborn children from industries profiting from life’s destruction

https://thefederalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-08-29-at-10.09.20%E2%80%AFPM-e1724987421909-1024x574.png
[4606,32468,5894,8347,3634
post-2334227","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-healthcare","tag-ivf","tag-politics","tag-pro-life","tag-trump
https://thefederalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-08-29-at-10.09.20%E2%80%AFPM-e1724987421909-1024x574.png
["GET
