Rational campaigns would have recognized that and actually encouraged their own voters to choose the options that they most feel comfortable with,&rdquo; Becker said. &ldquo;The Trump campaign did not do that, instead spreading lies about mail voting.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Becker&rsquo;s group CEIR funneled close to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/center-for-election-innovation-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$70 million<\/a> in &ldquo;Zuckbucks&rdquo; from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to influence election administration and promote Democrat-backed voting practices like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/center-for-election-innovation-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mail-in voting<\/a> ahead of the 2020 election. But ERIC shares the data with CEIR so the groups can target voter registration efforts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Jocelyn Benson, Michigan Secretary of  State<\/h4>\n<p>Hoover also spoke to Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat who is <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/01\/why-is-michigans-secretary-of-state-working-with-election-meddler-david-becker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">working<\/a> with Becker ahead of November and who recently urged citizens to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/02\/secretary-of-state-asks-michiganders-to-report-their-neighbors-for-election-misinformation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> election &ldquo;misinformation&rdquo; to the government.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Benson portrayed herself as a victim, recalling protests as officials <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/12\/01\/michigan-poll-workers-testify-on-election-violations-calling-detroit-ballot-counting-a-madhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">barred observers<\/a> from polling places on election night 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I still hear the noise in my head of the yelling, the banging, and feel that fear that we felt that night,&rdquo; Benson said. &ldquo;The 2020 election cycle was a perfect storm of a number of things, from the global pandemic, to a sitting president who was determined to sow seeds of doubt about the integrity of our elections long before November had hit us, and also we had a series of new election laws, including the ability for citizens to vote from home.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Benson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/sos\/Resources\/News\/2020\/05\/19\/benson-all-voters-receiving-applications-to-vote-by-mail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sent<\/a> absentee ballot applications to every registered Michigan voter in 2020. But mail-in voting <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/08\/media-tacitly-admit-mail-in-balloting-is-not-as-secure-and-reliable-as-they-claim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">is<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/31\/how-new-postal-practices-could-threaten-the-integrity-of-americas-biggest-voting-precinct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">susceptible<\/a> to postal delays, complications, or theft, as The Federalist previously reported. For example, earlier this year in Utah, hundreds of ballots mailed on time were not processed by the Postal Service in time to be counted in the primary election.<\/p>\n<p>Benson threatened local boards of canvassers with legal action if they do not immediately certify election results, citing Proposal 2 of 2022 which made certification &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Michigan_Proposal_2,_Voting_Policies_in_Constitution_Amendment_(2022)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ministerial<\/a>, clerical, and nondiscretionary.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a legal duty to certify the election results, and if there is not a certification, we&rsquo;ll go to court and compel that certification,&rdquo; Benson said.<\/p>\n<h4>Wendy Weiser, Brennan Center for Justice<\/h4>\n<p>Wendy Weiser, vice president for democracy at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/william-j-brennan-center-for-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leftist<\/a> lawfare group Brennan Center for Justice, also discussed the 2020 election with Hoover. According to InfluenceWatch, Weiser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/wendy-weiser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">works<\/a> to advance left-wing laws regarding election administration, voting, campaign finance, and redistricting.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Department of Homeland Security under President Trump declared 2020 the most secure election in American history,&rdquo; Weiser proclaimed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Meanwhile, the screen flashed a press <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/news-events\/news\/joint-statement-elections-infrastructure-government-coordinating-council-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">release<\/a> from the DHS&rsquo;s CISA program &mdash; the federal government&rsquo;s online <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/05\/why-cisas-censorship-and-election-interference-work-is-the-most-insidious-attack-on-american-democracy\/\">censorship<\/a> apparatus. <\/p>\n<p>In the release, CISA claimed there was &ldquo;no evidence&rdquo; the 2020 election was &ldquo;in any way compromised.&rdquo; But the House Judiciary Committee found that CISA <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/new-report-details-how-federal-government-partnered-universities-censor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">colluded<\/a> with Big Tech, private groups, and federal agencies to censor speech online ahead of the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;More than a third of Americans, and more than two-thirds of Republicans, still believe Biden was elected because of voter fraud. That&rsquo;s not true, according to the official assessment of former President Trump&rsquo;s own administration,&rdquo; Hoover said, referencing the release.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The release was a joint statement from two groups: the Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council and the Election Infrastructure Sector Coordinating Council. As The Federalist previously reported, CISA is working with these groups to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/23\/cisa-censors-join-forces-with-private-groups-to-target-so-called-election-misinformation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">target<\/a> so-called election &ldquo;misinformation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h4>The &lsquo;Petri Dish&rsquo; of &lsquo;Election Denial&rsquo;<\/h4>\n<p>When Hoover spoke with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, he emphasized the need to concede elections instead of questioning the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;When people lose their race, I think they just really need to accept the loss and then come back four years later if they want to run again,&rdquo; Raffensperger said.<\/p>\n<p>Hoover spoke with Jeb Bush about his brother George W. Bush&rsquo;s contested 2000 presidential election results against Al Gore. Jeb Bush made a similar point to Raffensperger, applauding Gore for conceding the election.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&ldquo;Rather than say, &lsquo;What a horrible decision, the Supreme Court is politicized, this is ugly,&rsquo; or whatever, Al Gore did an incredible thing &mdash; he conceded,&rdquo; Bush said. &ldquo;He said we need to unite behind our new president.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Benjamin Ginsberg, George W. Bush&rsquo;s lawyer during the 2000 recount, started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/benjamin-ginsberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">moving<\/a> away from the GOP in 2016, according to InfluenceWatch. He called prolonged election results the &ldquo;petri dish of the germ of election denial,&rdquo; but blamed Trump for causing doubts about election integrity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;No presidential candidate, let alone a president of the United States, has ever said pre- and post-election that the system is inaccurate.
