Recent developments have positioned \u200cNebraska as the only state with a clear option to \u2063potentially reject\u2062 extreme abortion \u200cpractices that allow abortion until birth. This follows the certification of conflicting pro-abortion and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/five-unorthodox-pro-life-bills-advancing-in-state-legislatures\/\" title=\"Five Unorthodox Pro-Life Bills Advancing In State Legislatures\">pro-life measures<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-details-emerge-in-shooting-of-84-year-old-pro-life-volunteer-michigan-man-charged\/\" title=\"New Details Emerge In Shooting Of 84-Year-Old Pro-Life Volunteer, Michigan Man Charged\">pro-abortion measure<\/a>,\u2064 led by a coalition \u2064including Planned Parenthood and the American Civil \u2062Liberties Union, aims to dismantle Nebraska&#8217;s current\u200c 12-week abortion limit by granting a constitutional right to abortion, purportedly up to fetal viability. However, the definition\u2062 of &#8220;viability&#8221; would be \u200dsubjectively determined \u2062by healthcare providers, raising concerns that it could enable abortions at any \u200dstage \u2064under\u2063 vague health claims. <\/p>\n<p>If successful, this amendment could remove important protections,\u200d similar to those \u2064seen \u200cin \u200bstates with established constitutional amendments on \u2063abortion. Nevertheless, proponents of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-vice-president-mike-pence-joins-the-heritage-foundation\/\" title=\"Former Vice President Mike Pence Joins The Heritage Foundation\">pro-life policies<\/a>\u2064 in Nebraska believe \u200bthat voters can be \u200cmotivated to oppose\u2064 this measure \u200cand uphold existing protections against late-term \u2063abortions. The outcome of \u200dthis vote will be critical in \u2064determining the future of abortion \u2063rights in the \u2063state.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Democrats have successfully forced extremist abortion policies onto the November ballot in 10 states. Only voters in Nebraska, however, will have the clear-cut chance to reject unpopular abortion until birth in favor of enshrining popular limits to ending life in the womb in the Cornhusker constitution, thanks to the recent certification of dueling pro-abortion and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-presidential-candidates-senators-urge-christians-to-fight-for-life-truth\/\" title=\"GOP Senators and Presidential Candidates call on Christians to defend life and truth.\">pro-life ballot measures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nebraskans certainly face an uphill battle against a <a href=\"https:\/\/protectourrights.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Planned Parenthood and American Civil Liberties Union-led coalition<\/a> that hopes to kill the state&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/governor.nebraska.gov\/press\/governor-pillen-signs-lb574-law-abortion-ban-takes-effect-immediately\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">current 12-week abortion limit<\/a> with a <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Nebraska_Right_to_Abortion_Initiative_(2024)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">constitutional amendment<\/a>&nbsp;that would &ldquo;provide all persons the fundamental right to abortion without interference from the state.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The ballot text claims this &ldquo;right&rdquo; is only permitted &ldquo;until fetal viability.&rdquo; Still, it leaves the interpretation of &ldquo;viability&rdquo; up to the subjective judgment of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-leaders-push-bill-to-import-nurses-not-train-americans\/\" title=\"Republican Leaders Push Bill to Import Nurses, Not Train Americans\">health-care practitioner<\/a>, who can continue ending life in the womb at any point if he claims the baby will not live or the mother&rsquo;s undefined &ldquo;health&rdquo; is at risk.<\/p>\n<p>The amendment, if passed, would no doubt give abortion giants like Planned Parenthood a free pass to execute life in the womb at any point in pregnancy without any fear of state retribution. <a href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/newsroom\/press-releases\/aclu-sues-to-remove-informed-consent-in-ohio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lawsuits in states<\/a> that have enacted similar constitutional amendments such as Ohio suggest that the text could easily be construed to rid Nebraska of safeguards such as requiring parental consent for minor girls seeking abortions.<\/p>\n<p>All hope to stop those desperately trying to transform the Republican-controlled state from a pro-life safe haven to an abortion-for-all hellscape, however, is not lost. <\/p>\n<p>Nebraska voters at risk of being duped by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/14\/associated-press-poll-is-corporate-medias-latest-language-twisting-exercise-in-advancing-abortion-extremism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deceptive and euphemistic calls for &ldquo;reproductive rights&rdquo;<\/a> have an alternative to the amendment allowing through all nine months of pregnancy, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Nebraska_Prohibit_Abortions_After_the_First_Trimester_Amendment_(2024)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Protect Women and Children ballot measure<\/a>. Also certified last week, this proposed constitutional amendment would ensure women and unborn children &ldquo;shall be protected from abortion in the second and third trimesters&rdquo; except in the cases of &ldquo;medical emergency,&rdquo; &ldquo;sexual assault,&rdquo; or &ldquo;incest.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/16\/poll-majority-of-americans-still-reject-democrats-unlimited-abortion-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">55 percent of Americans<\/a>&nbsp;think ending life in the womb beyond the start of the second trimester, around 14 weeks gestation, should be &ldquo;generally illegal.&rdquo; In Nebraska specifically, <a href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/SBA_NE_Statewide_ProLife_Memo_220105-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">72 percent of voters<\/a> oppose legalizing abortion through birth. <\/p>\n<p>The pro-life amendment proposal, which mirrors current Cornhusker abortion law, is far more palatable to voters than the Democrat-endorsed plan for unlimited abortion. In fact, a super-majority of Nebraska voters, <a href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/SBA_NE_Statewide_ProLife_Memo_220105-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">65 percent<\/a>, say they would prefer the passage of a far more stringent policy that bars abortion beyond the detection of an unborn baby&rsquo;s heartbeat, as early as six weeks gestation.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and producer of The Federalist Radio Hour. Voters misled by misleading rhetoric about \u201creproductive rights\u201d can consider an alternative: the Protect Women and Children ballot measure. This proposed constitutional amendment would protect women and unborn children from abortions during the second and third trimesters except in cases of \u201cmedical emergency,\u201d \u201csexual assault,\u201d or \u201cincest.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Nationally, around 55 percent of Americans believe that ending life in utero after approximately 14 weeks should be generally illegal; specifically in Nebraska, 72 percent oppose legalizing abortion up until birth. The pro-life amendment proposal aligns with current Nebraska law and is more appealing than Democrats&#8217; plan for unrestricted access to abortion.
