though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-stephen-smith-lights-womens-olympic-basketball-caitlin-clark-snub-dare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">none from the Fever<\/a> &mdash; won the gold medal in women&rsquo;s basketball).<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Women&rsquo;s basketball has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/caitlin-clark-vs-angel-reese-wnba-rematch-sets-eye-popping-record-even-tips-off\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exploded in popularity<\/a>, and more fans are tuning in, packing arenas, and engaging in social media to watch their favorite teams and players,&rdquo; the Fever stated. &ldquo;Indiana in particular has been the epicenter of the sport with fans engaging with the Fever and their young stars in new ways, and the momentum shows no signs of slowing down as the team makes a push to return to the WNBA playoffs this season.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While never mentioning her by name, it&rsquo;s pretty notable that one of the key differences between the Fever last year and this year is the presence of Clark &mdash; the release said. &ldquo;The team is ranked first among teams in the WNBA, NBA, NFL, NHL, or MLB in video consumption in that span.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>All of this buzz was enough for Sportico, an outlet focused on sports business more so than sports itself, to outright call these huge numbers a direct result of the &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/personalities\/athletes\/2024\/caitlin-clark-indiana-fever-financial-growth-salary-bonus-1234793539\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caitlin Clark effect<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>And, again, that description is hard to argue with.<\/p>\n<p>Clark&rsquo;s arrival has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/clark-effect-wnba-reportedly-set-get-massive-cash-boost-league-unhappy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">veritable boon<\/a> for the WNBA, and her on-court rivalries with the likes of Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese and (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/already-starting-wnba-team-takes-apparent-shot-caitlin-clark-olympics-drama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apparently<\/a>) the entire Phoenix Mercury squad has ignited genuine interest in a product that had been struggling to maintain any sort of foothold with sports fans over the years.<\/p>\n<p>It does need to be noted that Clark is very deserving of this adulation and these accolades.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike some of her more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/angel-reese-extends-wnba-record-massive-shameless-catch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shameless<\/a> peers, Clark&rsquo;s game is actually efficient and skilled.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, her turnovers are an issue, and yes, she&rsquo;s not a lockdown defender, but her offensive brilliance (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/caitlin-clark-smashes-wnba-record-gets-whistled-one-worst-technical-fouls-ever-big-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">historic<\/a> offensive brilliance, by the way) is rare for anyone &mdash;
